Hi gents,

Mechanic informed me the clutch is start slipping especially driving hard.
Should I get the whole clutch kit (Eurospares $1,460.00 pounds)?
Or could I ask the mechanic to check and locate the actual
part (clutch cover, disc or bearing) actually needed to be replaced?

Many thanks again

Don't know about the 3200, but with the CC clutch it's better to change everything that can wear out when it's open as the labour for opening it is high. But if they are happy to open it up and then wait for the parts, that might save some money. Personally, if I had the cash I'd change the whole lot.

Hi

I would change the whole assembly as its false economy to fit just the plate, I would also fit a new spigot bearing in the end of the crankshaft (part no 178003015) only about another £15. Look for an alternative supplier, contact eurocarparts as they can sometimes supply the complete kit and even try you local SACHS clutch distributor to see if they will supply you the kit direct. Your nechanic will also need to inspect the Flywheel once the clutch is removed as this could need changing if the slipping clutch has damaged the surface.

A complete 3200GT clutch kit from Sachs UK is now around £700!

You might find it even cheaper from David A.....

I saw someone strengthened the clutch bearing ears with weld and some extra metal, something I would do if I owned a 3200 again.

The bearing is flawed and snap.

Thanks all for your great input. I only encountered clutch slip after replacing the Clutch Cylinder ordered through Eurospares
(no. 29)

Never had this problem beforehand. I also find the clutch is a bit higher after replacing the clutch cylinder.
Is that something to do with that part or if the Indie didn't put things in the right positions?

Had the same issue on my 3200 and needed the clutch replacing, you need to get someone who knows what they are doing to fix this. rob at Grimaldis sorted mine.

There are alignment procedures for the clutch and operating links I think it is very sensitive to these , sounds like yours may not be adjusted correctly , as Con says worth getting this checked before replacing stuff.

Hey Saintetiene,
You are correct. Found out that the clutch cylinder ordered from Euxxspares was not the right one
and the clutch was opened all the time. Indie took out the piston in the wrong one and pit into the old one
and car is back to normal and is now a dream to drive.
Need to sort out the Windows regulators and replace the water pump to complete the maintenance.

Thanks again Dave and Saintetienne for the info. Will look for the Windows regulators for Alfa 916 GTV instead then.
Hopefully some $$ could be saved!!
Cheers

I thought Matt discovered that the mirrors were not quite the same. Or are the GS different from the 4200 / GS?
