3200 Wheels on a Gransport

Hello all

Having just had another near miss with a cracked alloy (slow deflation turned out to be the result of a crack in the tyre wall - never been happier to get a bill for a new tyre) I am considering a set of winter wheels and tyres. Does anyone know whether the 18s from a 3200 will fit a GS?

Many thanks

Heck, that was a quick reply, I wasn't even sure the thread was live yet! Thanks.

Have any forum members tried a similar approach to winter wheels?

There was talk ith another member but dodn't think he did it....Not sure they would look that good on a Gransport....They look great on a 3200 because of the ellegance of the clean 3200 shape buut think they may look all wrong of the agreesive GS.

If you decide to go this way, I have a spare set of 3200 wheels that I'd sell. They were on my Ghibli Cup as winter wheels for a while, but now that particular car "doesn't do winter". Great condition, refurbished, with a useable set of Dunlops.

4200 wheels might suit the GS a bit better.

Yes, probably right.......Still think they would look a bit weedy on the car though as the GS has 19's.....Now the FD ones are a different matter Ian...ours woulod look great on a GS.

The FD wheels do look very purposeful, though I get the sense they are not the easiest to track down in the UK.

Rationale for 18s is the higher profile tyre would hopefully = better ride and lower likelihood of rim damage, added to the fact that a 2nd hand set costs about half the cost of one new GS wheel. Last winter I pretty much stopped driving the car as I was sick of dodging potholes and focussing on the bit of road 10 feet in front of the car the whole time. That said, I do accept that they would definitely looks a little wimpy compared to the 19s. Maybe a refurb in gloss black might help?

Black is great on these wheels with a light coloured car (IMHO) and does add to the hooligan factor, but I'm going matt black next time as the gloss just gets filthy ridiculously quickly with all the brake dust and road spray...and with 15 spokes these wheels are a buggr to clean.

I'll shop around and try to find a version I like as I'm not sure I want fully matt.
