Glad your keeping your AC Peter. Apart from the UK cars being RHD, why do a few Maserati's get shipped over to Australia?? prices cheaper here in the UK??

Sorry for drifting a bit off-topic, but you chaps are well off concerning prices at the least. Over here in Sweden the 3200 GT's range from £20K for the cheapest ones to £26.5K. As for the 4200 CC's the range is about £27.5K to £50K. It almost seems quite profitable to import RHD 4200 CC's and convert them to LHD if you could get them as low as £12K-£13K.

Good luck with your purchase OP.

Hi Alecci, thanks for joining and posting, yes there is a thread on here about other countries prices, some related to overall pricing/what the market will bear in a given country to outrageous taxation by some governments.

How is the Swedish Maserati scene?

Hi mate,

The Swedish Maserati scene seems, regrettably, to be next to non-existent. There is a Maserati Club recognized by Maserati themselves, but their board show very little activity I'm afraid. On other boards our cars are very seldom mentioned. Most of this, however, I attribute to the cars still being fairly expensive while still requiring considerably high service costs, and this combination doesn't particularly appeal to the younger, more Internet-accustomed generations. Moreover, the average Joe and Jane appear to be quite unaware that the Maserati car brand even exists!

As for myself, I'm one of about three Maserati owners in a city with about 120K inhabitants, and there's no other Maserati's for some distance as far as I know. Rumour has it there's a total of about 500 Maserati's of all the various models in Sweden, but the times you manage to spot one in traffic are very few and far between indeed.

Hi Alecci, sorry to hear that, I know we used to get Norwegian and Swedish owners of various cars coming over to the UK just to get their cars serviced, Volvos and Saab etc.

Worthwhile joining the site I will post up next post and compare quotes and costs. let me know what things cost over there!

Welcome Alecci, shame that the Maserati scene is quite low over in Sweden. The colour of your car sounds and looks lovely, dont think i have heard of that colour before.

Many thanks!

Servicing is a bit tricky, as there are only two Maserati authorized dealers/workshops in all of Sweden, the one closest to me is still some 190 miles away. I will probably have annual services performed by an independent workshop that I trust and have major services performed by one of the auhorized workshops. Service operations also seem a bit expensive compared to what I'm used to (still my R34 GTR is no cheap car to maintain), with a simple oil change with new filter setting me back some £300. Perhaps I will look into performing basic service operations, such as replacement of filters, fluids and spark plugs myself.

Hi there, this is the forum for all the answers.....
Many months ago seriously considered goig cyprus and taking maserati with me but they have no deers out there so know where your coming from, the 190 mile drive you have to make is about the size of the island in cyprus.....

Start doing the work yourself, buy a code machine and search on here for parts.....
Welcome to the forum.......

I have been doing as much research as I can and the opinion seems to be that the 4200 is streets ahead of the 3200 in the reliability steaks? I take it everyone would agree with this? Apart from the rear lights, are the two almost identical in shape?

No my 3200 is very reliable, I may be in a minority but if the car is maintained correctly it should be fine. they have issues but if you purchase a good one all should be fine.

I will now remove my rose tinted glasses! I know the 3200 is a flawed car but I still hold to the fact that a car that has had ten years of competent maintenance should be fine.

I agree with that in principle pibbow, if a car is looked after then it should stay good. I think the 3200 is a cracking looking car, which is what attracted me to it. It seems to be the case that a late model would possibly not give as many problems as an earlier on, do you concur? I see you on Arran, I'm not far from you and some of the roads round me are not the best...thanks to Argyll and Bute council, but I do have one or two brilliant roads around me. One in particular had Top Gear up a few years back, with Clarkson and co booting the then new Evo and WRX up and down it.

Mate the roads here are dreadful. I limp to the ferry when ever I use one of my Maser's. Where are you?
