I'm in Garelochhead, don't know if you know it, 8 miles from Helensburgh. The A817 Haul road, which runs from Loch Lomond Golf club to Garelochhead is a good road, I used to regularly throw my bike along it. The Garelochhead to Arrochar road (A814) is the bouncy bumpy road that Top Gear used. Take it you have a couple of Maserati's?

I agree with that in principle pibbow, if a car is looked after then it should stay good. I think the 3200 is a cracking looking car, which is what attracted me to it. It seems to be the case that a late model would possibly not give as many problems as an earlier on, do you concur? I see you on Arran, I'm not far from you and some of the roads round me are not the best...thanks to Argyll and Bute council, but I do have one or two brilliant roads around me. One in particular had Top Gear up a few years back, with Clarkson and co booting the then new Evo and WRX up and down it.

Neil, I've had both a 3200 and a 4200 (well, a couple of GranSports) ... I suggest you drive both as, despite their similar looks, they are very different animals. The 3200 can be challenging but very rewarding - I used to take passengers out, start a conversation with them and then get into the turbo band (usually in 4th) - warp speed Mr Sulu - and they would without fail go very, very quiet. The 4200/GS does not feel as pacey, but has enough grunt to keep most happy.

To reiterate, very different cars.

I know just the place. When we lived in Glasgow I would head up there on Sundays for a blast on my bike.

I've got a Ghibli GT & 3200 AC

Interesting post. Before I decided on the 4200, I spent some time investigating a BMW M6. Awesome machine with the 500 BHP V10, but the Maserati is so much more special, more of an event, etc. So comparing with the V8 645, no contest, Maserati all the way!

I agree, as I said, I've been a big fan of BM for years....bike and car and I thoroughly enjoy the 5 series I have just now but when someone asks what you drive and you tell them a maserati, well that must feel good. That maybe sounds a bit vein, and it's obviously not my only reason for wanting one but it would be nice to be able to say that.
