So near, yet still not back behind the wheel!

Car is fixed, and at Barr-Tech in Cambridge, with used ABS unit fitted and all errors cleared. My main man at TWG will have car shifted back to Peterboro' for repeat MOT.

I will collect the car and go startight to morrisons with my 15p off each litre and fill it with 90 litres of their finest.

Pics of my failed Turbo to follow, and a pair of used ABS units. Nice paperweights unless anyone has better ideas for them?

Rob, your 15p off at Morrisons, I've had that, but they don't seem to do a Super at our Morrisons 98/99 octane, so I have to us our coupon for the other cars, what juice do you put in yours??

Hi

I use 95, the manual says 95 minimum and it has always run fine on it so why pay the extra.

Hi Rex,

Interesting, I always use such as Shell V-Power, full octane and I find I get extra power and the engine is very clean, never a misfire, or anything like that. I will have to give the 95 a go, I naturally would if I could not get anything else, but I do find the extra actually is extra in a Maser, I also use V-Power in my XJR, I only use normal in the Jeeps etc.

Cheers

Hi

I always try to use Shell, and have did once try 98 when my car missed a bit but the problem was Lambda sensor and throttle body. These have been replced for about 15 months now and I have touch wood been problem free. I have seen treads on petrol before and its always a mixed of replies.

If you are going to paste your pride and joy, and you should on a regular basis, the higher the octane the lower the combustion temperatures. That, I would suggest, will give the engine an easier time of it.

I must admit I feel the better performance overall when using Super 98/99 octane, better pick up and acceleration. I have never had valve issues for overheating and the engine / plugs are very clean, which tells me it can't be bad.

Hooray - we are home!!
Collected my Assetto Corsa today, paid the dreaded bill (which still needs discussion)

No morrisons voucher, and very little fuel so stopped at nearest place (Tesco) for 45 litres of 99 octane. Car wouldn't start, so had to push it off the forecourt! Back to garage, got new Bosch S5 delivered and fitted. Nice steady trundle home, watching the rugby cheering on Italy.I need the sympathy of the Italian motoring gods!!

Out to shops soon, proper spin maybe, then home to wash the car. Will unwrap the turbo, photograph and post the results.

And breathe........

Hi Rob,
That's unlucky mate, it does happen that way sometimes and pushing her out of a petrol station, what a pain in the proverbial. You will get to the clear path shortly and then be amazingly happy.

Cheers
