3200 Manual. Clutch Issues.

Took the AC for an MOT today, first shakedown after a few wee jobs and 5 years in storage. Mostly all good but clutch pedal sticking on the return so clutch slips or remains disengaged. It makes a squeeking noise. It will engage if you lift of abruptly but makes for impossible driving in town. I was hoping it might free off but if anything gets stickier the warmer the car gets.

Probably caused from the 5 years storage.
Might be a few more hours graft ahead getting the box out stripping the clutch assembly and reassembly after cleaning everything.

Well that is frustrating Allan, hope you find a simple fix like swapping the fluid out...

The rubber bush in the pedal on mine fell apart worth a look. Really cheap part but you’ll be contorted in the footwell for a morning. If someone said they’d do it for £200 I’d take it there! xJ5VJtn-0%21sizeoriginal.jpeghPcRkqm-0%21sizeoriginal.jpeg

A small update. The clutch is absolutely fine when cool, taking in and out the garage no issues, however drive a mile or so it starts to stick. The fluid was changed when the brakes were done. I've taken some pics that may show something to some of you, but to me looks reasonable. I'm thinking maybe the slave cylinder as it's next to the exhaust. Could it be the culprit? Easier to change than stripping the clutch assembly.

Should you be concerned about the fatigue crack on the plate?

Might be worth bleeding it again. Stick something under the slave cylinder boot and see if there’s any fluid in there too.

Clutches don’t actually move very far, a little bit of wear in all the joints and a hot engine could leave you without enough travel. When it’s cold where is the biting point?

That pivot bush doesn’t look great.

Bite points normal. It gets heavy and you can feel it sticking when you push the pedal down when it's hot, then it sticks on the way back too . The clutch always disengages even when hot it's the fully engaging again.

Although I didn't have a clutch issue with my Assetto, the action was certainly improved and felt smoother with a new bush.

While I struggle to remove the slave cylinder, another picture of the release bearing. I assume the marks on the shaft where it moves are normal? IMG20231119121833.jpg
