Well weather turned out nice for a reasonable time so got on with a few wee jobs. First waxoiled the solid brake pipes at front calipers as were starting to show signs of surface corrosion. Then when car up took opportunity to remove grille and return to black. See below.
Grille before stainles mesh, roughly cut to shap, and held in with various pieces of bent wire etc.
Refurb, couple coats etch primer, couple coats ofanti stone chip primer, then a few coats of satin black.
Grille after, tidied up, cleaned, and tried to attach a bit better, still not ideal but better than before.
A bit more in keeping with the rest of the car, in my opinion.
