You do know that Aston didn’t turn up to the hearing for Sargeant impeding Alonso? It’s apparently not so strange. I‘m presuming you are referring to the Sky F1 commentators. Nothing strange there either as they don’t miss a trick to show Red Bull in a bad light. Come to think of it, it’s a bit like this thread. We do have in common that we both put Sainz on pole though.

I was just saying in general. It should be the stewards that make the decisions not the teams. The teams shouldn’t have any influence over the stewards decisions as with most sport.

Loved that, from start to finish!

Do I think it's garbage that a garbage energy drink manufacturer owns a racing team, but Mario Andretti isn't allowed to? Yes. Do I think that folks would understandably lose their minds if Pepsi/Frito-Lay fielded an F1 team? Yes. Do I think it's garbage that the Jordan Rules apply to Verstappen? Yes. Do I think it's BS that a team would undercut the better driver on a given day so their "star" can book another P1? Yes. Do I wish all races were as competitive as today's? Yes. Did I enjoy Max not winning 11 in a row? Yes.

And if turns out that Red Bull's advantage is owing to something to do with "unique wing flexibility," do I think that calls into question much of this season's events thus far? Yes.

But does that mean that I hate Red Bull? No. Agree with @Andyk...life is too short, sports aren't that serious, and hate is an unproductive emotion. It's just more enjoyable when the outcome is in doubt right up to the end.

I think F1 and all those pesky social media rumours and conspiracy theories have gotten to you, just stick to Indycars for your mental health ;)

What a great race and to have 4 cars within a second of each other for for the last laps is as it should be. Sainz drove a blinder and managed that but well done the Brits. Great to see. Unlucky for Russel though. Hope this is what we see going forward but I fear Red Bull will get it right for the next race. We can live in hope though.

Interesting weekend, Red Bulls avoidance of penalties was not surprising, consistency is my biggest bug bear in sport these days, not that it would made any difference. Interesting that Red Bull were so off the pace, yes street circuits are not their real strength but they have managed to win them all this year, it will be interesting to see how they fare in Japan.

Not a great circuit for racing, overtaking as limited as Monaco, but as always a safety car or two throws in some jeopardy. Mercedes gamble nearly paid off, if they had taken the bigger gamble the lap before I think they would have won. That fine line of driving on the absolute limit without binning it is a trait of the really great drivers, not sure George is quite there yet unfortunately.

Roll on Japan next week

Yes it was a great race to watch, not sure what Red Bull were thinking with not pitting under the safety car, I think it cost them a podium. I’m not sure how helpful it was that Hamilton was chasing Russell - they should have worked together like Sainz was with Norris to some extent - I think Norris also realised that if he tried to go for the win he would end up in 4th place, so clever thinking from both Sainz & Norris, not so much from Hamilton and Mercedes who should have jumped in. If Russell didn’t have to watch his back there is a good chance he would have taken the win with Hamilton in second or third depending on when Russell would have overtaken Norris. Now they ended up with only third place.

Regarding the penalties, I don’t think there is any structural favouritism involved. The stewards are relatively consistent within weekends but unfortunately not as much race to race. Max not getting penalties was consistent with others not getting penalties during the weekend and Checo did get a 5 second penalty in the race. They should also sort out the incidents between team mates. With that I mean there should be clarity whether there is the intention to penalise or not. Now they “investigate” and no penalties are given. That is a charade.

Agreed consistency across events almost every obstruction during quali this season has been a grid penalty but for some reason this was not the case in Singapore. It can't be down to it being a tight circuit as there are worse ones for this Monaco & Zandvoort for instance. As I said not sure it would have made any difference

Well that was a surprise I went up a place so others must have had an even more sh1t day than me.

Yes collectively or rather for the Super League, which is our top 5 teams, we had our worst race, only scoring 89% of the #100 team, so we were well out of the top 100.

Here is the alternative scoring, you guys are handing it to me:

No way did Sainz help his old mate Norris on purpose. One reason he did what he did and was to protect his win. He would have been told if the Mercedes got past Norris he could have lost the win. Good to see that the Mercedes were allowed to race but if they had team orders I am sure they would have told Russel to let Lewis past as his tyres were clearly in better shape in those closing stages to challenge for the lead and he was quicker but at that stage that wouldn’t have been right. Russel crashed for one reason. He was following Norris and when Norris hit the tyres he did the same but with a worse result. He said himself if was a school boy error.

Looking forward to the next one now.

Despite getting the one - two, pole, fastest lap and safety cars I only got 155 points. Perez let me down..not the first time a Mexican has... ;)
