Hi all,

I've been lingering around for a while now (since beginning of the year), but finally took the plunge and bought a 2011 Maserati MC Stradale.

First off had dealings with Neil at Graypaul in Nottingham (who is fantastic may I add!), in February as me and my partner were interested in a Granturismo S with a budget of around £40-45k. My requirement was for a car with the MC Shift robotized manual and not the Auto (or now the Auto MC Shift).

Neil did his best and ended up showing us a few Granturismo Sports with the Auto and told us he could do a fantastic deal on a nearly new one (so I'm already looking at increasing the budget by around 50-60%!).

Anyway I wasn't to be sold on the Autos' and ended up with him giving me and my partner a demonstrator for a weekend in Late February in Blu Fantastico.

Well as you can imagine, we both fell in love with the noise, the looks, the drama, everything.

We ended up spending about £300 on fuel that weekend and put nearly 800 miles on the demonstrator.

I still wanted the MC Shift robotized manual gearbox though and Neil set out trying to find me one in Grigio Granito.

Months passed (we're in July now) after nothing really turning up, mainly the older S that I wasn't truly a fan of (thought the newer face looked soo much better and the idea of paying to add some bumpers/headlamps didn't really appeal to me).

Eventually he sent one in the perfect spec Granturismo Sport in Grigio Granito with an incredible interior and MC Shift but the price was a bit of a push at £75k.

At this stage I took to Pistonheads and did a search for all Granturismos with >450bhp and saw that the MC Stradales were in the region of £60-70k. I was shocked as we had pretty much ruled the MC Stradale out as being too close to Ferrari territory in terms of price and commitment (Carbon Ceramic Brakes, etc.).

After doing a bit of research I concluded that whilst it would be more expensive to replace certain consumables the overall cost of ownership wasn't that much greater (n.b. if any of you need the calculator that I used to make this work I'll happily send it over to you).

So we went to see one in North London, turned it on and that was pretty much it. Plus the car had the yellow brake calipers that I was so keen on getting!

Deposit left and arranged for it to be serviced a few days later we picked her up and haven't stopped grinning since.

Service report stated that there is 48% left on the clutch and the car passed all other Maserati standard checks.

After getting it home gave it a quick clean (snow foam, and cleaned all the shuts, etc.) and took the following pics:

From my previous experience with detailing I'd hazard that this car has never been hand washed by the owner and left to either a car wash or a hand car wash £5.00 job.

Lots of tar and other matter left in the shuts, and some oval swirl marks all over the car. Otherwise car is in excellent condition, not a single mark on any alloy and everything looks spot on!

Not many plans for modifying as I'd like to keep it relatively standard, this will be my daily driver so nothing too extreme.

Plans are:

Stage 1 - change all tires to Michelin Pilot SuperSports - current tires are close to legal limit.
Stage 2 - full machine polish and detail including wax.
Stage 3 - I'd like to add a reversing camera with the video addon, and also if it's possible to update the map to a later version.
Stage 4 - ENJOY!

That's very very cool!

I'm sitting just a few miles from you right now :)

Do you intend detailing it yourself?

Thanks hodroyd, believe me. Every day I'm laughing, press Race and the car just does the rest!

Yes, I've got all the equipment here (i.e. machine polisher, sun gun, etc.)!

Have you seen that they're opening a Maserati dealership in Peterborough next to Marshall Jaguar/Showcase Cinema?

The other half really loves the QP VI and the Ghibli so said we'd aim to get one for her at some point (now in the distant future :D).

Interesting - very rarely go to Peterboro, so not seen that. That's a very good strategic location to have a dealership though...

Gaggia is on standby if you need to test it anywhere ;)

For good reason, I'm not sure how I feel about it opening. On the one hand, happy... But worried it'll make Maserati's quite common around here, and also we'd pretty much be a driving advert for their cars!

Sorry still new, what's or who's Gaggia :D?

They won't ever be common Old Bean... :)

I take it you are a tea drinker then? :D

Ahhhh!! Haha, Gaggia coffee machine. We've got a Nespresso machine, and I actually prescribe to a water only pick me up strangely :D.

Will definitely have to arrange a Masser meet up or something shortly, they're such beautiful cars.

Looks great, congratulations. Another Stradale in the fold, but I think we still only have 1 Stradale convertible on the forum.

Personally I feel that the Stradale has a much better looking front end than the Sport plus it's a much rarer car. Enjoy.

There is something oh so special about the 2 seater Stradale...More so than the new one.....Think its because of the bucket seats, only two of them, harness if you have one....A real sense of occasion every time you sit in and belt up. Feels very special indeed.....Certainly did when I drove Blondies.
