If you have used any of the other listed brands also, if you could score those out of 10 we could build up a full picture of experience scores.

I had the detailer at Emblem do a Swissvax number on my Ghibli and was amazed. Before that I'd always used AG, happily enough. But the Swissvax is a step up. Only downside is price. But that said, £50 of petrol is gone in a day, while £50 of Swissvax polish lasts for ages.

James,

I have used this on both of my Maserati's over the last 5 years, over that time I used two tubs of the stuff; and I waxed every second wash, and washed the car after every use.

I was sold on the brand after having my 1st 4200 detailed by Clifton Care Care in Bristol as the car came up like...no, better than new. It does not contain any abrasivies, smells devine, does not leave any residue and hardens after use if left in the bright sun...most of all you do not get any swirl marks on dark cars, perfect for black like yours.

I used the mid range wax at about £65 per tub [Onyx] and my friends noted just how well water beaded off the car and how a hose would blast off most dirt without the need to wipe.

I would suggest gooing for one of the sets for about £150...after all thats just 15 washes at my local Albanian Car Wash and I think they use drain water and tesco washing up liquid.

They also do a tester kit...ideal for one wing, only a fiver. http://www.swissvax.co.uk/product_detail/wax_products/tester_kit_with_onyx_wax_2

Hmm, after doing a little digging it does seem that although it was being bandied about as Swissol about 5 or 6 years ago it is now known as Swissvax.

I never did try it out, but I will possibly give some consideration to getting their kit, I want to try out this Meguires setup first. I'll take some nice DSLR shots of the process when I do it.

On a slightly unrelated note, does anyone know of any wheel refurb places they can recommend? Preferably in the South?

Lepsoms in Swindon, £55 per wheel for chemical strip, re-finish, paint and varnish.

Mine were like new.

Can they match up the original colour Peter, some only have their own colours and these can be a few shades out..??

I enquired about getting our AC wheels done locally, but they could not colour match and that would have changed the original spec of the car, so I am still looking. They did say if i could get the original colour paint they would do the work though, so it's still possible..!!

I have to be honest, unless the consensus is 'DO NOT DO IT' but I would like to change the bright silver into Grigio Titanium (is that the dark grey on the wheels of some?)

I think it will make the car look better overall. Just toying with the idea currently.

It all depends on whether, or not you want to keep your car original..?? With our AC, because it is a limited edition and the last one of a kind, I prefer to retain it's original heritage. If your car is one that you just want to enjoy for what it is and the colour does not make the car look awful, then go for it, you have to drive it, but then sell it on at some time in the future..??

This is the thing isn't it, I 'believe' the Grigio on a black car looks more up to date, having seen the GTA in black with grey wheels for sale at Amari Supercars confirms it looks good, in my eyes. The question is, in the Maserati market, does standard trump slightly tweaked for the better on a non-special model?

I would say go for it if you feel it will improve the car..!! Some put different wheels on, so a non-standard colour that looks better is not an issue..??

:) I'll give it some serious consideration, I need to get a set of tyres for it (god knows why, but the previous owner put a blend of pilots and dunlops on it... sacrilege) so it would make sense to do it all at once really.

Thanks for sharing, the sets for £150 look pretty good. I think i will get it delivery to work..... Dont think the other half will be too impressed on blowing £150 on "posh turtlewax" !

Just follow the instruction book, and ensure you protect the matt plastic bits with Penu. It is better to clay the car first, then use the pre-wax oil to feed the paint and remove any light scratches/swirls, you can use a light cutting compound to remove any stubbon marks prior to oiling.

Then stand back and enjoy

Peter,
Did you use an oil when you used the clay bar which makes it easier, or did you do it dry..??
Cheers
