Don't get me wrong, Chris. They do break, but mine came off in my hand :)

The Sprint is technically Mrs Catman's but it needs to go to a good home to be cherished. We've had a series of 116 Giuliettas (including a V6 special) 75 x 3, 155, 164, 156 x 2, 166, GT 3.2 and currently a 147 :)

Seems you've had even more Alfas than me! Good man :) I wish I could justify having a Sprint. How much are they worth these days? Must be more rare than a Maserati now!

I'll keep you posted about the reverse lever. I had a long tedious drive to Croydon and back today and the car behaved very well. I'm enjoying the challenge of looking after the clutch in traffic ;)

The plan was to recomission ours this winter ready for a spring sale. Sadly the guy who was going to do the work had some family issues so it's in its container for another year.

Value? No real idea. Fully restored and documented the last I saw was £12k. No way is ours worth that but would be nice to get a few grand.

I'm sure you'll have people lining up to buy it at £2K. I don't remember the last time I saw one on the road!

Just wanted to give you an update and thank you all again for the great advice.

La Contessa had her essential fluids replaced along with the reverse gear modification and new door striker plates - the doors close SO nicely now - possibly the most satisfying door closing experience I've ever had :) Various other small repairs, 2 tyres and wheel alignment. That little lot was over £1K. The engine mounts are definitely gone - that's the next job on the list. Hopefully she won't need too much after that (famous last words?!)

When they get sorted, it's just such an experience
