Overinflation will cause that, saw similar happen on a track tyre when we were hunting for best pressures and got a bit extreme. Could also be a manufacturing defect, but i'd expect a bit of noise on the net about it. Have heard that similar can happen when an air compressor thats got a tank...

Wonder what the chance is of it being the same engine as the Cali T? Even with my absolute hatred of any forced induction I'd give it a test drive if it had that engine......
