thinking on getting one of these but am getting confused as to which one to get............ the black3+ interests me with 4k capability so if anyone has one (and a 4k TV obviously) is it any good?

My theory is; go the best you can so you won't need to upgrade! I got a Hero 3+ black in May but I haven't used it yet. I am hoping to get a bit of footage before the Centenary bash just so I know how it works when we set off for Modena. Can't wait to get some film of a tear-up through the Alps! Also, you can get a GOPRO app which allows you to control it through an i-pad or i-phone. Quality!

agree re getting the best you can afford in any situation but really would be keen to know if the 4k version is worth getting (does it show true 4k) or will the 1080 silver do just as good?
if you have a 4k TV get out there and try the black+ for me you lazy sod so I know:saifi3:

A 4k TV? Wtf is one of those? I have a 42" Samsung smart TV and I believe I can Bluetooth the GOPRO to it. It also has a very good picture so I am pretty sure it may well not be the limiting factor? As for being lazy? Correct!

I haven't tried the more recent models, but the time lapse function on the older ones gave some brilliant shots going through the Mont Blanc tunnel when fitted to a friends bike. The videos are pretty **** good too.

I have a 4k TV. That's what I paid for a Panasonic 42" plasma in 2003. It's still going strong and hasn't dropped any pixels. I can't force myself to 'upgrade' it as the picture is fantastic and I haven't got my £4k worth yet!

I have to change my TV buying habits. Keep buying Sony and you get stuck with the **** things for years waiting for them to go wrong.

I'd love a GoPro. For about 30 minutes, then it would never be used again. Think I might see if
I can borrow one to get my fix. Might be a laugh having one at Brunty if anyone that has one is going?

Funny we have a 42 inch Veira Plasma too about 9 years old.
Again the 720p picture quality is still stunning, it won't be thrown out until it pops, but has been moved to the kids play room recently so I could get a bigger 50 inch 1080p plasma in the lounge, that cost only 20% of the Panasonic 9 years ago!

My problem is that I have another Panasonic plasma in the kids lounge. It's newer, but also won't bloody well go pop!

Fwiw 4k tv is 8 million pixels instead of 2 million, while 1080p is crisp, 4 k is stunning !
Bit like the difference between an iPad 1 and a retina display.
Stills from your video will also be more usable

It upset me when I took to the tip a fully working Sony 28 inch widescreen (wow!) CRT TV, that was a couple of grand too at the time!!

some of the old models lock up, the black edition seems to get very hot and shuts down to cool down. the quality is very impressive

You won't notice the difference with a 4k TV unless it's properly huge. Think 80". So don't buy the Hero+ black for that. Maybe buy it for the auto low-light or the remote control, but not for the 4k. They all seem a lot cheaper on eBay than Amazon, btw.

MAF, I know what you mean. Could just be a 30 minute wonder for me, too, though I'd like one for Bruntingthorpe.

A mate of mine has a behemoth Bang & Olufsen CRTV that he saved up for years to buy. It takes up half his lounge, but another issue in taking it to the dump is the number of people required to lift the thing!

Was that the price or the weight?

I know our old 42 inch plasma is heavy, heavier than the new 50 inch, but yes that old CRT was super heavy, like the old VHS Ferguson Videostar!!
