Ghibli 2 wont start sometimes.

Good evening,

Hope everyone's good So i have this problem, sometimes the car wont start. The car is a Ghibli 2 Gt model 2.0lt manual 1996 model. What happens is I turn the key, everythings good, then i try to start the car and sometimes it just wont start (It happens mostly when the car is hot). Fuel Pump is new, changed it a week ago. Maybe its a relay problem? Plus sometimes i hear a sound from the glovebox that goes like tik tok tik tok.
If anyone has any idea of what is happening please let me know

Jim is in Greece IIRC. First of all take the clock out of your glovebox!

I wonder if the cooling fan is stuck on and not allowing it to start. Have you tried a battery reset at all? The other option is the TDC sensor and these cars can do this when hot.

are you saying it turns over but doesn't catch?

or that it doesn't turn over?

let's start with that.

did it happen before the new fuel pump- or did you get the pump changed due to this?

(The fans are not tied into the ECU(s) and that has never prevented mine from starting)

P.S. what battery reset? the Ghibli ECUs don't do data logging- they forget faults when you turn off.

Heat soak into something, probably the starter motor if it's not turning over.

Ok so it turns over but doesn't catch. Also the car sometimes dies while being on idle. Unfortunately I didn't own the car before the fuel pump change. Thank you!

are you putting your foot on the gas a little to try to help start it- I remember there was a moment years ago where mine needed to be started with a bit of throttle... and that's how it is now.

Try opening the throttle fully when hot.
