The aggregates train used to shake the house foundations, and the house was 200m away from the line!A couple of weeks ago I was working a train out of Wembley Yard, just as I was about to leave the flask train pulled up in an adjacent road and four security guards appeared from nowhere to keep an eye on it. As for the weight of these flask trains, they're usually no more than two or three hundred tons including the loco(s), the aggregates trains that I usually drive are normally ten times heavier .
1/4 mile away and we certainly hear the Mendips moving to London…The aggregates train used to shake the house foundations, and the house was 200m away from the line!

My grandkids love them; there are two sidings close by too where they lie up to let the fast traffic by so we get a good view of the smoky starts. Two of our drivers were on that job for three years, lodging in London the whole time (neither are married!), some of the trains were 'jumbos' with with two sets coupled together, once they reached Acton Yard they'd split and go to their eventual destinations, the average weight of the jumbos was 4,000 tons.
Both of the drivers above were raking it in on overtime, one of them bought a Porsche 911 and two C3 Corvettes!

Oh yes. They used to almost wet themselves with excitement on the old footbridge at Patney just before there. We see them just past Hungerford too. Crofton is popular too at the level crossing.Woodborough in Wiltshire by any chance...?
Thank Goodness for that mate you could have been looking for a Tractor !I was looking for an update on the war but I seem to have stumbled across trainspotting monthly
Are you saying we’ve lost our train of thought with too many thoughts of trains?I was looking for an update on the war but I seem to have stumbled across trainspotting monthly
I could introduce you to people who care very much. It’s about time they started to negotiate for peace.
Ukraine is never gonna beat Russia…..this “funding and supplying” simply extends the slaughter.
I see there’s Nuclear War drills in New York.
Madness.
Ukraine is an incidental place most people wouldn’t wanna die for..,.,.most people don’t even know where it is…..or care.
Exactly the reason they should be negotiating for peace.I could introduce you to people who care very much.
Anyway - perhaps our new PM will decide to bring Australia back into the fold and bombs will start raining down on a residential area near you .
