....and buy a 2 year old E Class as a daily.

Is there any reason why I shouldn't buy a 530BHP Maserati Quattroporte as my new daily driver?

The want is huge. But I imagine the potential financial ruination could be even bigger.

Nope. Cannot think of a single reason why not...... Maybe ask Birdcage? ;) Oh wait...... red calipers..... huge depreciation and lack of braking...

Mr Sensible here.
I think a Ghibli would make more sense, and yes even the Diesel (Euro 6 compliant model)!
A couple of weeks ago I did a round trip of 800 miles to the Lake District, and averaged 38mpg. Honestly my Ghibli Diesel is the easiest to drive most comfortable long distance motorway car I have owned, even handling twisty country roads with ease (my car has Skyhook which may make all the difference).
The fact that I have owned my car for well over six years- the longest single ownership period, says a lot ...

You only live once, scratch that itch and enjoy. It’s a beauty and something different from the norm

It all comes down to whether you're comfortable with the fuel/servicing/ potential repair costs of running a QP as a daily driver

I had an E280 a few months back , it was the easiest car to drive , one finger and a toe is all you needed.

Would have another

I love those but couldn't have as a daily. Too big - that's the size, not just the running costs.
Beautiful car though.

I'm using my GT for a 60 mile a day round trip.... Getting low 30s when in boring mode, mostly 20mpg.

Life's for living and if it gives you more enjoyment go for the one that excited you the most.

If economy was the name of the game, plenty of cars do 65mpg. My Leon estate did with ease, and had 200hp

Although a Ghibli Diesel is still a Maserati, with the benefits of economy, cheap RFL.
I accept these cars are very spec dependant, and a stripped out basic in white with standard wheels and black interior is not going to be all that interesting, in fact probably as boring as a mid size German executive car.
I ordered my car with all the upgrade options, something akin to the newer ‘Gran Lusso’ with extra bits n bobs, and most people think it’s a 100 grand car, not a BMW 530D motorway company car hack.
Whilst these interior pics were primarily to show the ‘sheepskin rugs’, from what you can see of the rest of the cabin, you can get all the luxury of a QP or even a poor mans Bentley!! Whilst the exterior still attracts a lot of attention…

It does look rather attractive.
