Well one of the best cars I have bought in the last 2 years since coming back to Europe is my Porsche Boxster 987.1 3.2 S fully optioned and a factory order paint colour match.
Easy to work on once you get used to the flat 6.
Build quality probably the best out there.
Easy to maintain.
With only 280 BHP you can really drive it.
Definitely worth more than when I bought it.
My only regret is why did I never buy one before.
Just my thoughts.
Oh that mk1 Astra GT/E!!!!!!
Mrs Eb rather fancies one of these...

A boxster does seem to be at the bottom of the curve money wise. Find a good one and would be a great long term fun car. There’s loads about but this is good for spares in the future to keep it going reasonably cheaply.Get one of the best daily drive sports cars out there for the money. Porsche do this type of car very well indeed.
That's where I struggle, who and how they were driven, hardly something to aspire to. You couldn't give me one of those, and my 306 Gti 6 I never gelled with, had it from new. Maybe a generation thing. Sorry no offence meantYes, those were the days!
Very rare car now I would imagine, and probably impossible to get parts for. One of my mates used to have a black one at the same time. To be honest I’m not sure how we survived it when I think back how we used to drive them.....I was only 20...
Always wanted one of those MK1 GTE's. Unfortunately my pockets weren't deep enough at the time to buy the car or the insurance!Oh that mk1 Astra GT/E!!!!!!

I had the Opel Kadett variant of one of those. Was a peppy little engine though. It got severely T boned by a land rover.Always wanted one of those MK1 GTE's. Unfortunately my pockets weren't deep enough at the time to buy the car or the insurance!
My first car was a 1984 Astra MK1 1300s though. A monstrous 75bhp
Nice.....cracking car that took a lot of abuse. Transported 8 back from Ritzy in Tottenham once! Mine was China Blue and reg was B686XPU from memory I believe. Added suitable Manta GTE alloys to mineI had the Opel Kadett variant of one of those. Was a peppy little engine though. It got severely T boned by a land rover.
Cars like this ^^ will always have appeal, so the buyer can recall youthful adventures. The rolling window of middle aged car nostalgia will sure carry on. Personally, sitting in a velour and grey plastic hatch is not a good enough reason to park one at home. I might like a trip out in one for old times sake. Not sure that my friend's sister Tracey would let me climb aboard in the back of a blue Hillman Avenger these days, might put her hip out.Nice.....cracking car that took a lot of abuse. I was seeing a girl from Hull uni at the time doing Scandinavian languages. We got the boat from Newcastle to Gothenburg and toured Sweden Norway and came back through Denmark and Germany. Car never missed a beat.Nice.....cracking car that took a lot of abuse. Transported 8 back from Ritzy in Tottenham once! Mine was China Blue and reg was B686XPU from memory I believe. This is still the big question for the future of "investment classic cars".
short of cash enthusiasts might welcome this, the speculative kind of owner less so. Could even wipe out layers of restoration businesses.
