Ok, dogupdate; he had another general and operation This lunchtime, they managed to get a catheter into his anal gland and flushed it but a it was clear and b it didn’t come out of the wound so the two are not connected. This is possibly better news as it should make infection treatment easier long term. But makes the tumour route more likely! They flushed out the gaping hole and stitched top and bottom together again. Too much tissue loss to close still even with the reduced swelling. Still going to have a drain to bother him and he will probably smash this cone of shame in minutes trying to break free of it.
