The virus seems to effect hemoglobin in its ability to absorb oxygen from the lungs. As a means of quantifying this I purchased a pulse oximeter two weeks ago, and we have been charting our pulse rates/ oxygen saturation levels. The idea is that a fever is an indication well after infection and being contagious to others, while a trending reduction of oxygenation might be an early indication of infection. I'm not an MD, just an engineer. What do you doctors think?

In that case it is time to walk off the job. H&S nowadays will back you.
Isn't gonna do anyone any good if hospital staff start dying by the thousand. They'll be there when needed another day.

Truly appalling situation.

Also, It’s interesting that we’re now hearing more and more calls for China to disclose where this virus emanated from.

I think the bbc will actually find that the mistake was made because they grabbed the opportunity for a headline without checking the facts....I heard this on radio 2 news at 7am Friday, indeed they had a sound bite from the intrepid reporter who fielded the call...
I have to say if you are incapable of finding out how to get in contact with Burberry on your own in this day and age, then you really are pretty useless.....
I haven’t had my refund from TUI......think I will ring the bbc......

Extend stirring stick:
You could say exactly the same thing about GP surgeries.

Well at least GPS are contractors to the NHS, but personally I am happy to apply the same off the cuff comment.
The government are not proving PPE to my staff and they are on the front line believe me....... we had pandemic stock to keep us going.

Even with the NHS their management have a lot to answer for in terms of pandemic planning.

The government of course have an overall responsibility to secure supply chains and should have done more and more quickly to open up new supply - no easy task either............

Coronavirus Joke.......................

A panda bear walks into a wet market and orders the bat soup. The vendor brings him the soup. The panda bear eats it, pulls out a pistol, kills the vendor, and gets up and starts to walk out.

Another vendor yells for him to stop. The panda bear asks, “What do you want?” The vendor replies, “First you come in here, order food, kill my fellow vendor, then try to go without paying for your food.”

The panda bear turns around and says, “Hey! I’m a Panda. Look it up!” The wet market vendor goes into the back room and looks up panda bear in the encyclopedia, which read: “Panda: a bear-like marsupial originating in Asian regions. Known largely for it’s black and white coloring. Related to the raccoon. Eats shoots and leaves.”

The original version the panda visits a prostitute. Eats , shoots and leaves.

Sadly all roads lead back to China for the supply of scrubs/ gowns and face masks....and they are holding the world to ransom. I am reliably informed that the white disposable overalls used by Doctors and Nurses are all made exclusively by 2 subcontractors in Shenzhen, just over border with Hong Kong. One brand called 'Tyvek' is made by DuPont in one of these factories. Every single piece in the world is made at one of these two factories. The 3M disposable masks FFP1,2 and 3 are also made exclusively by Chinese subcontractors. So it seems that the strategy to single source the supply of such strategically important requirements has failed resulting in what we have now.

It’s not the government’s responsibility, it’s the management of the NHS that is responsible. All Health Trusts/Boards have comprehensive risk registers and are part of regional/national planning/procurement groups. It’s too easy to blame the government for everything when hugely bureaucratic organisations should carry the can and have planned/reacted better. Massively regrettable and the government now needs to step in and assist but the ‘pass it to the top’ blame culture has to go.

I appreciate that hence the comment - “no easy task”, but they could have instructed all manufacturers in the U.K. to switch production in the same way as Burberry and other have - or something......
