I get the feeling this is all manufactured , surely mankind can't be caught with its pants down like this in this day and age? There's more to this than a virus.
Thats my theory aswell. Its a virus which has never been seen before but it is not dissimilar to SARS or MERS. Having spent 31 years of my life supporting the UK military I have my views and suspicions on this.

Have a look at inflation of hard assets, particularly property, across Europe the last 2 decades. Then compare to wages. I'd say all talk of low inflation is smoke and mirrors. Seriously. I don't know how they fiddle the inflation figures down, but I'm pretty sure they do....
It’s pretty easy.
They decide which goods/services etc to use and leave out all the ones significantly rising.

It freaks me out now if I have to go into Sainsbury's, all these muppets/people faffing about...
All I won't to do is to be in and out as quickly as possible!

Dave
I went into our local spar , only 4 allowed into the shop, one in one out , staff have screens , you step forward with the stuff then step back , they scan it then step back you pay with contactless they bag it , you leave

Seems it's a nationwide policy so I haven't been to a supermarket for 2 weeks until today , asda is still as chaotic as it was 2 weeks ago , queueing outside is ok but no rules when you're inside, couldn't wait to leave

The problem is that printing money is one of the motivators of inflation. I can’t see any countries doing that at that moment..,,
Well the Feds buying everything and the BOE just went all in with helicopter money to fund the Govt. trillions and trillions.

"temporary":lol2:
Nope, just permanent lies from bankers.

The economic dilema
The US has lost 1132 jobs for every confirmed US death from COVID-19 (14,817).

Sorry Wattie, I have to disagree. The inflation will occur, but, as it has been doing for the last 20 years, it will only inflate China's economy. The old definition of ' too much money chasing too few goods' no longer applies as China absorbs the printed monies by producing more cheap sh[t, and then buying the debt instruments created to print the money. " a capitalist will sell the rope used to hang him" is very true in this case. We have been slowly selling our nations to the Chinese for 30 years now. This CV disaster will be painful, but I see it as an opportunity, if we can use it, to reset the dynamic. I do think there is a plan, and Trump (love or hate him) will execute at the right time.
No need to apologise, you watch, you'll be proved wrong.
I find it simply incredulous that those that got us into this fecked up position are now believed when they say they have another solution and that all will be well.

So much for the saying "Fool me once, shame on you....

By the way, Capitalism is now dead.
Socialism is here and its gonna require an awful lot of money to bail everyone and everything out from underneath that huge debt mountain.

A long weekend off for Charlie and I after too many days without a break... so some relief in the sun.

However first job is going to another regional office to do some swaps off PPE. I have gallons of sanitiser but just 300 gloves for my regional workforce of 700 until next week... hence the swaps.

Our service has now had seven staff deaths, just short of 8k off sick/shielding/hiding, but frontline staff absence is 25% lower than back-office staff... make of that what you will!

Got lots of cleaning, washing, grass cutting, ironing and all the other chores that have built up over the month... be almost glad ti get back to work.

PS thanks for the Thursday claps from us both and special thank to a forum member who has offered to do a supplies run for an elderly parent which will save me a 500 mile journey.

Stay safe, stay home and wash those hands (whilst washing the Maser)

Keep strong.....yourself, your other half and all staff are doing an incredible job in terrible and difficult circumstances. I am not sure I am built to do the same within that environment. I very tough and hardened in many situations but this is something else. It must be very difficult and I applaud you again.

From the BBC:

‘Stanley Johnson told the BBC's Today: "He took one for the team and we've got to make sure we play properly now."’

Did I miss something or did they loose a cricket match and Boris get buggered in the showers after?

That's a bit rich from him. He allegedly buggered off to his holiday home in Devon when the lock-down started.

Sounds like Boris is over the worst of it, out of ITU and on a ward, let’s hope many others are making the same improvements and getting the same level of care.
interesting. A lot of hospitals have a 0% exit from ITu for patients (vented that is) currently. It’s great news he is ok- but suprised he was there if he wasn’t ventilated. HDU would be more appropriate. Whatever treatment they gave him - it’s fantastic news for him and his family. Let’s hope the intensivists get to the Bottom of the mechanisms of injury so more people can be weaned off ventilators and survive. Let’s keep fingers crossed for the scientists working on vaccines too

Which of these statements has been proven wrong?
1 and 2 were correct. 3 may have been correct - No one knows what happened. For him to go to ITU and be out within 4-5 days is highly unusual. I think I know why! Not sure other 55 year olds would be so lucky.
It’s a great pick me up for the london healthcare system which has been battered recently - so overall a positive result!

There was something I read this morning and I can’t find now by an ICU consultant from the QE in Birmingham saying that both here and a number of other countries they’ve found that even with seriously low blood oxygen levels that normally would require ventilation those on oxygen alone seem to have similar outcomes.

If I remember where it was I’ll post a link.

Just read something similar in the paper. Seems that ventilation may not be the best solution. This does seem to match with the impact on porphyrin, perhaps.
