Despite the horrific death toll which is so very sad, do these stats suggest the mortality rate is starting to flatten out? I was expecting it to be above 700 today.

The numbers are still too small to draw meaningful inferences I feel.

Yep..but if we can see a few days like this it might suggest lockdown is working.
Oh yes if we see several it might be fair to draw that. I suspect (and it's not my strongest skill) that we'd also need to see lower cases as well....

That should hopefully start to level out in a few days, or at least not climb so steeply. But we shall see

I hope we see HIGHER number of cases. I would very much like to see more testing done. More testing will definately give higher numbers.

Yes maybe but guess what, the UK are making ventilators to an existing Smith's medical design, with over a thousand of them being delivered over the next few days to the NHS, even more next week and so on. Industry have stepped forward and despite all the negative **** in the media, they are quietly getting on with the job.
Just been confirmed that the Industry consortium making a significant proportion of the 61,000 ventilators now on order with UKG will be manufacturing, testing and delivering to the NHS at least 1500 units per week and increasing quickly. So fantastic progress being made.

You are correct, higher testing numbers will result in larger outcome figures, both positive and negative. However, because it is only ever possible to test a % of the population when testing is focussed ( those considered to have symptoms or nhs staff etc) at any given time it will be just a number, not an indicator of population infection rate nor a future predictor to death rates. The important piece of info missing is the mortality rate per infection rate, which no one has been able to absolutely confirm yet as far as I know. if we have that, we will know just how effective the measure we are taking have been, unfortunately I am not convinced that is going to be so easy to tie down given the world is measuring this differently everywhere both for infection rate and even death rate.

Not exactly correct forgive me for being picky , he actually died of a long term heart problems and tested positive for Covid 19 , which reduced his ability to pull through , he had had several heart attacks in the past

He will be sorely missed but his statistic will counted as a Covid 19 death

Stacey's mum a great song ......................my kids brought me up with it constantly
