Picpoul is my current wine list pick (clearly not red) in that I don't recall a bad one for some years.

It's been improving year on year for 20+ or so. Very much a Summer favourite here too - particularly cave l'Ormarine.
Did you have one in that mixed 6 the other year? If so it was "Isabelle" from Metro but was, in fact, relabelled Duc de Morny.
Highly recommended and the "better" restaurants around the bassin tend to carry it. We like to use these placemats in the garden:

I can't remember what I drank last night, let alone that case :D. I do tend to like Languedoc wines

Not tried Picpoul du Pinet until last week. Have three bottles of the below. A bit to heavy for me as prefer a light wine. Perhaps it will grow on me.....

Surprised to hear it described as heavy but each to their own :).

Suppose C it's against what I normally drink. probably heavy is the wrong word...Not my taste is probably better to describe.....Perhaps the ones I have arent a decent bottle maybe........I could tell as soon as I poured if as it was a darker color almost golden green .....I find i prefer the lighter colours.........Will give it another go though.

Hmm, also odd. My experience it's normally quite light coloured. Be interested to see a photo next time you crack one :)

No way anyone can call that panic :)

I'm getting uncomfortable, we've only got 20! And The Wine Society has shut down!

Are those the actual bottles? Shame to say it, because that is a nice example, but they are 2016. That's way too old for Picpoul - it's at its best young. No more than 2yo. It oxidizes quite quickly thereafter and explains the darker colour & heaviness. Almost clawing at that age I'd suspect. Although, I am aware of an unscrupulous vendor in France passing off old Picpoul as Vin Jeaune. Which may well be the best bet for the remaining bottles - use it in a fondue.

Well that would explain it.......Luckly I didn't buy them.....Will remember any older than two years.

Ideally, 1yo when it will be fresh and "zingy". Oh no! Does sound like something that that bleédin', bloódy Jilly bloódy effin' bloódy Goolden women would say.

Last night was the first 'virtual wine tasting' with a few friends. We've all ordered the same mixed case from a local supplier and then are meeting up on zoom to taste one of an evening. Last night it was a Pecorino. Lovely oily wine with long acidity. Hints of peach and sherbert. When paired with some sheep's cheese (I only had some brebis instead of the Italian Pecorino sheep's cheese) and then with some tandoori chicken tikka it really pulled out the flavours of the foods.
Looking forward to the next 5 tasting nights.
Oh, please don't worry that we stopped at only one bottle - we just went onto other supplies each so we'd have fresh taste buds for the next tasting session.
