Ok, the truth is this is actually Cat S write-off which was NOT put on the official register so it is "HPI Clear"..
Your thoughts on this?
If it was a Cat S write off then why wasn't it recorded. How do you know it was a Cat S write off?
Accidents happen everyday and not all go through insurance. If this was repaired outside an insurance claim (highly unlikley I know but ...) to an appropriate standard and checked over pre sale - what's the problem?
The issue here is that insurance companies are not doing their job.
Can I ask what you are doing to work with CUE / MIB to ensure that the database is correctly updated.
Strikes me you have sufficient evidence to have it recorded?
Of is that too simple?
Interesting stuff. I suppose if you still at HPI Check then you are insured against this (though only up to £15K if it is found to have been a write off) and it will capture 9/10 cars. Not sure what else we can do, but thanks for exposing.

This particular car I know very well as it one of our recent customer who actually bought it month after it was poated on FB without knowing. While I support your goals, you might need to be careful with with suggestions that a vehicle has not been properly repaired (i.e. with airbags and a fully functional crumple zone).
Which doesn't impact your astute assessment of the impact on resale value!

A timely reminder to us all... and personally I like how this thread was posed... lovely looking car at a high price, which without the following posts would had led me thinking he intended to buy and I/we may have given a gentle push to 'go-fo-it'
Good to reminded to get an inspection.
Not by us. We usually get someone from public to do it.Has the selling garage been approached for comment?
