This QP price dropping.

It may looked dated compared to a BM or MB, but it also looks better. Would I take a 4 door MB or BM over an equivalently priced QPV? No thanks.

But neither would I pay £25k for one, when very good examples can be had for considerably less.

The QPs do look quite tempting. Do they pretty much sound and perform like an early GT?

Where as I'm the other way. The GT looks great there is no doubt about that but the 4.2 is starting to look a little old

Agree, this one looks like one of the better Sport GTS...Currently 3 on AT first one at 12k ....12k for God sake....The other blue one that's looks good at 15k but something wrong with the dash screen....an d this one.....She certainly looks in good condition...

There is another on Ebay at 20k with low miles that looks lovely to but feels a little to much in this company...even if it was owned by a member of The Who......4.2 Sport GTS would be my choice of QP at this price point I think...

Definitely a good example, but the variators haven't been done yet, so will need to be factored in for the future.

Are we saying every car will need them done at some stage...Surely some have been OK or is that not the case...

That blue car is lovely and looks in stunning condition...

I completely agree!!...They are stunning cars. When I hear that 4.7 V8 starting up its just incredible. Thats when I start to question "what am doing"....but having recently retired, sadly the ongoing running costs are not really an option longer term. So maybe what I should be doing is sell the house and keep the QP!!:):) But don't think the missus would agree with me!
Whats the point of retirement if you can't enjoy the finer things in life?. You only live once.

To my eyes, this model hasn't aged particularly well. Whereas the Granturismo has. It just looks 'right' from every angle and is practical for a niche coupe. The QPV design must be twenty years old, give or take and it shows.
Put it next to its roughly equivalent MB or BMW and it starts to look as dated as a Rover P6 or SD1. The difference being, SD1 prices are on the way up.
Why would you choose a QPV over a GT unless you had to have four doors.
In this car's case, the colour will put many off. 'Purple' is just about the least popular car colour.
Factor in the cost of ownership and the marque's reputation for unreliability and the market for this car and those like it, becomes exceedingly small. I know I'm not saying anything that everyone doesn't know.
I'm not saying its a bad car. Car buying is at least partly subjective if you're a petrol head, so beauty is in the eye of the beholder. My ten cents. I'm off to grab my tin hat and flak vest ;)
Purple? It’s Bordeaux Pontevecchio, ie dark metallic red......not purple. And a beautiful and very much like colour for those that don’t have a boring monochromatic view of life.

I also disagree about style. I think the QP5 wears its age very well, but it’s pointless comparing it to an executive saloon from two generations later. Whereas I think the GTS is ageing less well - I’ve definitely gone off the look over last couple of years. And I’m not sure the GTS in 10 years time will feature in a list of the 10 most beautiful coupes ever, whereas the QP5 will feature in the same list of 4 door executive cars.

I wasn't using 'purple' as a pejorative. At OO.MG in the morning, I couldn't be bothered to type the full colour name ;)
Every colour has its place. However, the fact is that this type of red is amongst the least popular car colours and has been for a long time. That's not my opinion.
As to comparing it to an executive saloon from two generations later. Well, unfortunately if you're looking at which saloon to buy and you're including the QPV in your possibilities, what other marques are you going to be considering? Citroen or Ford? Perhaps BMW or MB were bad examples. Maybe the Alfa Gulia Quattrifoglio is nearer the mark, for convenience plus sh*ts and giggles :)
Your comments about both cars and styling are proving my point about subjectivity. However, the majority seem to prefer the GT. At least based on anecdotal evidence on the forum. As to predicting what preferences will be a decade from now. You're a braver man then I, to be making predictions that far out. Personally, I've given up predicting anything much, beyond the end of the week! ;)

Yeah..but having the opportunity to 'retire' at the grand old age of just 57, having worked my **** off for 36 years, was an opportunity that I didn't want to miss even if it meant making one or two sacrifices including the QP. Didn't fancy working until I drop and right now I don't have to. :) As they say life is full of choices.

The thing is the QP is very similar in appeal to the X350/2 XJR. Both aren’t quite supersaloons in power, but their appeal isn’t routed in pure performance. And for non-hardcore marque enthusiasts, that’s what matters more.
However, nearly all the supersaloons are cheaper to buy and have more accessible places to get them fixed.

Like the XJR, a QPV is something you have to really appreciate and be into. In many ways that’s good; but not if you’re selling one.

I’d still choose a QPV GTS, but I’ll admit to admiring the sheer thunderous thrust of an Alpina B6S E60 or Nat asp E63 AMG. Very different pleasure centres being worked on in those compared to the QP, though...

Just go out and do it. You know you should! After all, you do deserve it and it's Christmas as well.
