Spent most of the day planning a reccy trip with Benny for a week next month (Heads up liver, you are in for a hammering!) investigating French waterways!

Off to Kent in the morning to spend a lot of money on a suitable craft and safety gear!

Gosh. Montreux is a wonderful place. Especially on a Freddie Mercury birthday weekend. Dodgy taches and cover bands everywhere.

Morning,
That feeling you get when you wake up and know you aren't getting back to sleep. Going to be a long old day.
Have a good weekend, Dave

Morning all, yep wide awake when I should be snoring!

Guess I’m excited to be spending hard earned dosh on myself for once. To put a little flesh on those words, remember my ‘Thoughts’ thread and Dan’s ‘Weightloss and accountably’ thread? Well the up shot of it is gaining momentum: I’m getting the weight-loss back on track, I’ve developed an idea with Dan to undertake a massive personal life challenge. With Dan undertaking his new business this year and me undertaking business developments too, we are now looking at September/October 21 for the event. It is along the lines of this:

LaFolle adventure enKayak

Kayak from London (City) to Dover, ferry across (getting a license to cross by Kayak is ridiculous unless you are claiming asylum), back in at Calais, down the coast to the Somme, canals and rivers to Reims, and Lyon, on to the Mediterranean where we will again paddle around the coast to St.Tropez. All in all, a little over 1,000 miles!

All of this will be supported by Ian (BennyD) of this parish with a suitable support vehicle. The aim of this is to get fit and raise a shed load of money for the memory of Ian’s son Ryan and some other worthy causes. We are hoping to be joined on sections of the trip by some of you, maybe a day, an hour or more.

So today I’m off to Kent Canoes to get kitted up for a reccy trip with Benny at the end of the month to investigate some of the trickier sections of the route to make sure it is even possible to get through under human power

The 1,000 miles is estimated to take around 6 weeks. .

It is just another example of the power of this amazing forum that the merest suggestion of a bonkers idea gets supported with floods of offers, Dan and Benny were onboard in minutes, Not just them, you guys are amazing and I know the project will have such momentum by the time it gets underway, the physical side of it will be the easy part!

Have fun all...

Newton, Dan and Benny, I hope Newton's day is good for all of you!

I have my ex's wedding today. I'm singing in the choir for the service and know she'll have got a good band sorted for the evening bash. I have a wine tasting to attend between the two parts of the event so I'll be of sound mind to avoid saying anything really awkward when people ask "how do you know the couple?"

HapPea Saturday!

Long drive back from Normandy today , it's been fantastic , 20⁰ almost every day , I'm very impressed with the french communal attitude, no yoofs, no litter anywhere , everywhere very clean , people let you on the motorway without blocking you or headlight flashing , speed limits seem optional though

It's going to be the trip of a lifetime, Newton!

Since speaking to you last, I've got the kids into Kayaking via holiday clubs and we're buying a couple of fold up kayaks to poodle/paddle up and down the river here in constable country.

Once they're able to handle them on their own, or at least the eldest, I'll join you in investing in a boat for me. And then I can get some regular local practice in of a weekend.

There's a lot of water ways around here, from narrow streams to tidal estuaries, so opportunity to practice on most of the scenarios that we'll experience along the way.

We'll have spare boats, so best you get some practice in, London to Dover is quite a long way by water! It'll be good to have you along.

One of these should fit you Dem.... Newton wears them as slippers around the campsite.
