I have to say I am forever grateful that Miles and I am escaped from right behind you in the queue and went to Dunkirk!

It was the toss of a coin, the turn off a wheel. And I tossed and turned the wrong way. Still, it was memorable.

There's talk of a crossing being opened from Folkestone to Calais or Dunkirk, also Ramsgate being opened as well to cope with the log jam which Brexit might/will cause.

The other thing which is also worth considering which I heard on the news this morning, is that if/when we exit, you will need at least 6 months on your passport (like going to the USA) to be able to enter the EU.

As my passport runs out at the end of June I'm going to renew it shortly.

Ok, Ill look at flipping the trip or come back Le Harve/Pompey on the Monday, its not too bad, 5 and a half hours so only 2hrs longer than the Cbourg crossing and means we can spend the afternoon in Honfleur which has a big supermarket too. Its also half an hour closer than Cbourg

Les Blot booked and deposit paid today so we are on our way...

Matt, why don't you phone up Seabourne? They might have some spare capacity, and if they don't deliver the meal you'll get your money back... Lol

Honfleur is a nice town. Better not let Benny near it.

Now, if you were really accommodating your friends, we'd like to go Ijmuiden - Newcastle overnight back. :)

Here are some routes, note the low mileage.

Cbourg out, Le Havre return (probably not Saumur for night 2 but similar area:
  1. Cbourg
  2. Laval
  3. Saumur area
  4. Le Mans
  5. Le Harvre

Reverse route, Cbourg out, Calais return:

  3. Saumur area
  4. Le Mans
  5. Calais

I'm pretty sure some members (no pun intended) wouldn't actually leave Amsterdam.

Valid point. Also, the logistics are a nuisance. Driving in Amsterdam is horrible, hotels are expensive and public transport if we were to stay outside the city just adds a layer of complexity. In any case, it's already jammed enough with stag-night wangkers. It doesn't need any more!

Bloody ****. What's going on with all the ferries this year? Are there less of them due to Brexit panics? Surely not.

I wouldnt know... this will be the first time I will have used the ferry to cross the channel in over 20 years lol

Agree with not starting in Amsterdam it will be far far too messy and I will be going there shortly after for a week anyway XD

Apparently (according to local news) hauliers are block booking crossings as they fear that because of the hold ups expected with Brexit, you won't be able to turn up on the day and get a crossing (like they have previously). Not sure how true this is, as I've always had to book.

Maybe it's different for lorries?

Ahhh, you may have a point there. The tunnel / Dover is generally expected to be an absolutely clusterfeck if we crash out without a deal. If I was a haulier I would also be block-booking alternative routes to France because the worst-case scenario is that Dover will be pretty much inaccessible by road due to a million lorries being stuck there.

It does make me think that we should avoid we should avoid Dover / tunnel being part of any leg of the trip.

Le Havre return ferry now full, looking into Dieppe/Newhaven as we speak.
You'll have no issues spoiler clearance wise on boarding the ferry at Newhaven and or at Dieppe with your Masers. This is the ferry I take to my place 20 mins from Dieppe. It's a four hour crossing either way. The drive is do-able to Le-Mans too from Dieppe. You'll be able to fuel up at "Auchan" commercial centre which is about five minutes away from Dieppe harbour. Happy hunting for the ferry crossings it sounds like you're having a mare!?

The same issues will be at all ports, not just Dover. You should hear some of the measures they're suggesting if it all goes pear shaped.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Coming back should be a piece of p*ss as we're British after all.

The thing to remember is that this is all currently conjecture as no-one actually knows wtf is going on at the moment. Not even the Government.
If we end up staying in the EU, then we're all good anyway.
