Be nice or Phil will tell everyone about 'the Jamaican incident'. Again.

To be fair, that’s the only story the silly tw4t’s got. Do we really have to put up with him again? It’s bad enough having to take the brothers Grim and associated riff raff, but Cuntigo? Surely not. ;)

Oh, he’s got loads more stories, they just haven’t yet been automatically created by his Random Story Generator.

Oh, I am, always! Mostly out of curiosity But, frankly, the same goes for all of us. It's a week of rambling, incoherent monologues. Like being at an old folks' home, but with faster disability carriages. And more unpredictable incontinence.

'Tis done, lets see what they say but this one will not be the usual €50 a head, more like €75 but very worth it. My good self and MAF went some years ago on that famous 'Lost weekend'

MAF was found at 2am drunk, legs spread in a state of collapse smoking a ***...muttering outside reception after climbing the 16th century gate and they said nothing, so I believe they have the credentials to accommodate us.

Ahh... such fond memories...

A rethink required.

The only way back is Caen Pompey on the chugger but they want £200 a car and 2 passengers, leaves at 16:00, gets in at 21:30

What I might do is flip the route...go out Pompey-Cherbourg and come back Dover-Calais.

The other option is to come back on the Tuesday and have an extra night. We could do another hotel in Cherbourg as its a great night out. That then drops to £115 return.

Booked already? Dang! That Caen-Pompey chugger's a slow old bugger. I've taken it a few times in the past after LM, and by then you just want to get back. It's slow and boring.

My vote would be out via Pompey and home through Dover. It's a bit of a schlep, but the alternative of 8 nights away for a 24-hour race is starting to stretch the brownie points a bit.

Our trip is a long weekend, i.e. 6 nights - if we stretched it to 7 nights it would be a week and a totally different justification process

We're Tuesday to Monday, but some of us head south on the Monday night to avoid being up at dawn to drive to Pompey. So it's a week, which is fine, but to not get back until Tuesday would be, as you say, a different justification process. It would cost more than an extra night in a hotel, that's for certain.

Like others I may struggle to add another night to the trip - as far as what route / crossing we end up with I am totally flexible.

I did the overnight from Pompey on my last trip - not too bad

If it helps with options, we got routed to Dunkirk in the crazy migrant attack year and that’s only 30 mins past Calais. The port and boat were quiet so it could well be much cheaper.

That was the night I spent in a refugee camp.

Yet if we turned off just before the queue and headed through Calais town we would have made it on a very empty ferry. I believe Hoyin and Dave just about made it...some migrant almost hit Hoyin's rev limiter...

We are going Pompey / Caen overnight Tue and coming back Cherbourg / Poole mainly as we come back the Sunday that is the best timed ferry and it doesn't make much difference to us in overall time.
