The Granturismo Is No More

The only flaw in all of this is what happens to all the people on the line at Modena. I know the 4C is made there but I struggle to believe that they will go through a period of no Maseratis' being built in Modena.

Agreed Bob, it makes no sense. Do you think they are going to surprise us and shock realise the Alfieri....no.

I've no idea what they are up to to the extent that I am getting disillusioned with the brand.

I am disillusioned with the management of the brand. Not the brand itself. The reaction to the cars from the general public is just lovely. The GT has had plenty of thumbs up and I have had a couple of 'at least it's not a Ferrari'.

I know it doesn't sell cars, but it could be built on.

Fully agree Damo. The cars are facking brilliant. All of 'em. God knows what the management vision is for Maserati but the cars we all drive are stunning and fantastic and grin-inducing.

I guess we all need to just enjoy the cars that we have. They are all great cars as they are but who knows what the future holds? The same can be said about Lancia, they made some beautiful cars and I had a few, thoroughly enjoying the, but surely the same won't happen to Maserati? Let's hope not

Here in the UAE there is no shortage of Maseratis around. Car economics are competely different here of course, but GTs and QPs still sell strongly. And not to locals (they all drive G Wagons and Land Cruisers) but to the expat market. Ghibli's are everywhere and I'm sure the Levante will be very popular because the Cayenne is omnipresent. Any region where governments haven't done their best to kill demand will still see strong demand for beautifully designed, evocative cars.

I'm absolutely loving my '13, which I've only had for 3-4 weeks. It pains me to hear that this model is being discontinued. Really sad. However, this model, while stunningly beautiful in sight and sound, it so outdated with the infotainment system that it is no surprise that it won't sell new at the asking price. You just can't sell early 2000's tech in a $150K car anymore. It's not viable. I suspect sales will not justify ongoing production without a tech refresh... (although i think that's all it would really take to keep it viable). Shame it's not happening.

Yes, that is everyone's # 1 gripe and something that should be a cheap fix for Maserati as they already have a hugely updated system in the Ghibli - a real shame indeed

I'm sorry to say that I've heard the same thing. My local dealer confirmed production will cease in September. Worse still, any replacement will be equipped with a small block turbo engine. The days of n/a are over. Sad for the brand, possibly good for residuals long term.

Absolutely. We're driving the finest cars known to man!

Stradale is going to be a great buy everyone, last of the NA and a most excellent car too.

Grab em while they are hot!

It's a funny thing, Matt, but I could never see the point of the two-seat Strad. When the four-seat one came out I thought that's it, perfection. But now... I'm not so sure. I think my views may have flipped. Now the four-seat one just seems a bit unnecessary.

The trouble is, I've got mine to the point where replacing it with a Strad wouldn't deliver much over what I've got now, not for my usage and purposes. Sure, the Strad handles a bit more sharply, has a sexier frock and looks a bit harder... but it's not so massively different, not to the untrained eye. I daresay it's a different beast to drive but if I've splurged an extra £30-50k on something, when I look out of my window I want to see something more substantially different out there.

Still, I think you're right. The Strads will be in reasonable demand because they're fantastic. As is mine.

Sorry, I should have included 4.7 MC Shift in my above statement Adam, I have Strads on the brain at the moment :)

Myself, ill be going for a white Strad, carbon brakes, probably a series 1 with 2 seats and a roll cage with harnesses.

Stupid, but so am I, so it will suit me.
