Do a Google image search on "Audi TT R8" and see all the lame attempts to make a TT look like an R8. Of course there's a family resemblance but the profile proportions are very, very different. Also, the R8 driver is going to be having a very different driving experience to the TT driver. I couldn't give a toss what the average punter thinks of a car. I know we own Italian cars and therefore need them to have flaws which give them 'character', but surely there's got to be some respect for a decent bit of engineering?

Exactly. Take the Nissan GT-R. Doesn't look particularly good, doesn't sound all the good and generally has the wrong image for me. But what a car!
I think this is one of THE best car adverts ever. The simplicity and focus is epic. R8s always left me cold until I saw this ad campaign and left me seriously thinking about a V10.
I really really wish it wasn't a Nissan. There's, admittedly and unfortunately, some brand snobbery that comes in and their 90'scars I cannot get out of my head "I drive a Nissan" I would struggle with.
But what a car. That acceleration is just awesome. It is a crazy car.
I wonder how this would play out on the audi forum
