Anyone heard from him?

I know he is in Holland now and back at the weekend, but I know he rises early, so what's changed?

He's not missing as such Urby, we've just mislaid him. We know we left him somewhere in Holland but we're d@mned if we can remember exactly where. Pretty sure he'll turn up when we least expect it. :)

Welcome back by the way. Hope you're fit and well?

Regards, Miles.

Hey guys, well I'm back.
Wrapped the job in Holland on Monday at the start of the 3rd week, as did the other Brit, peter, who started on the same day as I did. the job was a doddle, but after 2 weeks of anti brit comments from some of the cloggies & being told that we can only work 38 hours a week , and that overtime is available to everyone except us we both quit on monday morning.
I rushed back on monday night and picked up on the work I have outstanding in the uk. been flat out ever since.
since then 2 of my mates have been offered the job & both of them have knocked it back.
Not had much chance to log on since then, but here I is & its good to be back.........missed the crack boys.
thanks for your concerns , and its good to see Urby back here.......did you get time off for good behaviour urby ??

thanks loz. not too bothered about the job. it is a good project but they have been at it for a year now & they hav'nt finished the civils or the steelwork yet. and some of the civils , concrete base's, are in the wrong place.
Having lived in Holland for 12 years I have come across this attitude several times, you just get this miserable right wing attitude from a few of them, its not really reflective of the country as a whole.
but as we were the only 2 piping guys on the job & the prefab of the piping is a mess as is the planning of the job, they wanted me to install platforms & steel trim to one of the vessels . I pointed out that the vessel isn't even delivered from the supplier yet & wouldn't be for a while, they though I was just being smart.
wont miss them, dont think any off them will last much longer on the job as there is a new construction director on the way.

any way...........tryed the spyder yesterday & have only 10 volts on the battery so it aint gonna start........do I just take it out & charge it, buy a booster to start it or get a new battery as I'm not that confident with the one I have.
if so any recomendations on which make of battery.

Hi Miles, yes I have . but its from the sort of people who in the Uk would be members of the N.F. or just the usual white trash scum bags........its the same the whole world over. I had, as did my brit coleages, problems in Malaysia with the local guy who was the project secetary. just hated brits & made every thing a problem for us. I told him that he resented us cos my great great grandfathers father had an indoor flushing toilet while his dad had to dig a hole in the jungle every day.
bit harsh I know, but a big geordie had him by the neck one day.
you get thick skinned about it.

The world aint changed much Rob...despite all sorts of improvements.....in health, education and relative wealth, primitive instinct takes over and remains.!

Welcome back into the fold...................there won't be any anti-Scottish jokes on here............................or anti-West Midlanders jokes either.......:)

Arhh, Rob there you are. Sorry things did not work out, especially after you put yourself out in moving to Holland.

Re the battery, you should have an isolator knob on the terminal closer to the front of the car. Switch that off and then connect your charger. Personally, I would disconnect the negative terminal also, but thats just me. If its quick and easy to get off, I would do it. There is always the risk that the power from the charger can surge and upset or blow the sensitive electrical system.

I have a trickle charger that came with the car, never used it, but you could rig it up on a timer switch so it comes on for a couple of hours a day. The best thing I have seen is at La Butte, Loz's mate in France house. He had a solar panel on his shed which was a trickle charger, so it only charges during the day, very cleaver idea.

Hi Rob,

I too had to replace a battery reading 10V two weeks back. I followed Miles' advice and fitted a Bosch S5 (Bosch Model # S5008-096), but as I couldn't take delivery of an online order I got it from Halfords (their ref # HSB096)
As the guys said it fitted perfectly as it was of very similar dimensions and is rated at 77Ah with a 5 Year warranty)

Hope it helps.
