Cars attract comments for so many reasons.
The 4200 does get people talking; generally due to the styling which is so pure ...as people have commented.
The car I had which did get noticed was my Alfa GTV Cup and young lads would ask me about my 'racing car'on their way to school.
Amazingly what comes into play is the 'I remember those' card and my little old Mini Cooper gets a huge amount o positive comments at filling stations etc. I have frequently spotted people diverting to have a little dose of nostalgia.
If it were me, I'd divert for a spot of 1960s or 1970s nostalgia - everyday cars - rather than a Hypercar which I can read about in virtually any current ghastly car magazine.

We met a young lad at Le Mans this year with a MK1 Cortina, it had a Focus Zetec engine on throttle bodies, 5 speed box through to modern back axle, it was running air suspension, with Willwood discs and calipers all round. It had air-con (although not working) and a modern entertainment system that could be hidden behind a original looking facia. It was a cool take on classic with modern running gear.

I've always fancied doing something like that, 1961 Cadillac Coupe De Ville with modern running gear, convert to RHD with retro-but-modern dashboard, sat nav and all that stuff. Love the '61 as it was the only Caddy of that era to have horizontal taillights, and it's the year of my birth, longevity not a strong point in my family so I doubt I'll manage to do it...

It's a real shame the insurance company didn't pay out for the cost of actually replacing the car for you

Lesson learned - I went for agreed value based on what Inpaid at an auction, reality these cars don’t come up for sale 2nd hand. Just been offered a similar spec car for £80k - but that’s too rich for me right now

really feel for you, the one you were offered, is it the Ant Anstead one that didn't sell at action in May

I think the Anstead one was priced rather high due to the "celebrity" ownership, hope you do eventually get another, just a matter of keeping your eyes peeled for that one advert to appear

The problem with Ant Antstead's restorations along the Ed China's is that they only spend an hour doing them up...

Agreed, would of been better as a tad longer show, I much preferred it with Edd China when they were doing the show in the UK, didn't like all the USA stuff but still watched it because Edd was still there, not keen on the show since it all changed to Ant

My Essex Racing White Mk2 Focus RS when they were new, worshipped around Essex :p

And the Quadrifoglio gets positive comments too.

Just took the Ghibli to our local car washing gents, was stood chatting when a 67plate Porsche GT3RS pulled in... Not a car you see every day, I said 'wow that's nice' the guys stood with me replied 'yeah but yours is special' :)
They didn't want to buy it though:confused:

Overwhelmingly positive. Both inappropriately younger women hinting they'd love a drive in it. To older women making sure they caught my eye.
On t'other side of the coin. I often get young guys on footpaths wanting me to give it the beans as I drive past. Older guys wanting to have a quick
chat about it in petrol stations etc and the occasional passer by when I'm getting in / out will ask me what its like to own and drive.
I tell 'em the truth. Most reliable car I've ever owned. Loves to be driven hard, on the twisty stuff.
At the other end of the spectrum. I bought this defender last month, to restore. Possibly because I live in a rural area, it gets as much attention. Defender HiCap6.jpg

I was looking at a defender. But my god they are expensive to buy secondhand. Plus I think if you own one in London they are so in demand they get stolen almost immediately.

Then I looked at a disco 4. Which looks nice as well and then I read all the reviews which all say it is an unreliable piece of $hit.
