Your most complimented car?

I had a pleasant experience today, where 3 different people ( ladies ) came up and complimented my car whilst at the petrol station.
Never had that with any BMW I can recall.
Maybe it's a red Italian car thing??
Any similar experiences or thoughts?

My Mk1 Golf cabriolet got more attention than any of the three Masers...and by a very young audience compared to its age.

I recon it was my 3200. Suppose they were just rarer back in the day.

My first Opel GT I had back in the mid 90's use to get loads of attention too, opening line was "is it a Manta?"

The only people that gaze at mine are schoolboys. I’m sure girls have no car filter, I was walking down the street with the Mrs when she was learning and asked her to identify car model, makes etc, 0/10. Rubbish. Even now she has no idea what the standard railway gauge is, I mean, how you not know that?

Regularly - its rare when it doesn't happen - but then the roof is always down and it is often a sunny day

Clearly shamelessly hitting on you.......;)
Did you see money change hands? Maybe it was a bet or 'dare' :)

But to be fair I get most attention with my 4200. Also in red!
Bentley ? Who cares?
BMW i3 ? Green Techno Geeks only.

Probably my 4200 also but it's pretty bloody rare compared to you lot... perhaps I come across as unapproachable :D

Back in the day when I was 21 my XR3i Cabriolet got loads of attention.

When I had my 4200 I often had people coming up to me at petrol stations and whenever I stopped saying what a gorgeous car it was and what a great colour.
With the GTS, you get loads of people taking pics. Especially the yoof!

The GranSport has attracted numerous levels of interest at filling stations - more than the Turbo. They ask "what is it mate?" "Its a beautiful car, I've not seen one before". Some even ask to take a look at the engine bay and "that gorgeous cream leather interior". Sadly they have all been fellas, not young attractive brunettes or blondes looking for some spice (literally) filled with fun and adventure or bored frustrated young housewife with a husband who works 24/7 and never has time to look at his wife!

3 little kids came up to me asking about the car when I was filling it up in Italy. They were about 10, and asked strangely technical questions, like how many cylinders, the cc, and top speed.

Me too, funny thing is tho, as I've been filling it up and the wife has been in paying, she has been asked about it loads of times.

Sadly I have received/heard a fair amount of negative comments which I can only put down to jealousy perhaps, for example some kids in a Wiltshire town shouting "poor mans ferrari" from the pavement... quite recently at the petrol station nearby I was inside paying while my partner sat in the car and some guys walked past commenting on the size of my cock owning such a car - as the windows were open I think she told them to **** off (or something along those lines) - even overhearing a couple who looked like they were in their 60's muttering that "those two look too young to own a car like that" while pulling a screw face at us... people really need to get over themselves but I think some are just so consumed with competition they just cannot control their mouths (you have something that they don't so they have to make a ****** comment type mentality)

That said when I first bought the car two people who I considered close friends at the car had such a vile reaction that I slowly started distancing myself from them (sort of event which proved who my friends were as the rest of my friends and family absolutely loved it and were happy for me)

Anyway sorry to put a negative spin on it but there are always two sides to these things

My GTS gets lots of looks and nods as we drive around town. My wife thinks they're looking at her - bless!

Had something similar with Alex's family when I got my 4200, as they always thought they were better than me as I was from Essex
"How could I possibly afford a Maserati?" etc etc etc.

When I bought the GTS they were even more put out. Stuck up snobs who think they are so much better than everyone else when the reality is, they haven't a pot to p*ss in as it turns out.

I've never had so many positive comments about a car before the 4200, I think being red does help. Luckily I've not had any of the jealous comments you experienced FernandoIsFasterThanYou, my kids and their friends love the car (but my wife thinks it is daft).
