Do you have "sports pack" on yours bob?

No don't have them Phil. The body pack was an option when mine was built but not the other stuff in the sports pack. I guess I might have to buy the FD plip for the valves as I feeling a bit quiet!

Good man! I bet Jonathan Breathed a sigh of relief.
To be fair it is a lovely car and well priced.
I was trying to get him down and a couple of mods thrown in.
Did you pay the asking price? Photos would be good!
Any tips you can give - greatly appreciated. Looking at a GTS next week and sorted the man maths...

Iain, I don't believe in paying the asking price, let alone in the depths of winter. Had a 300 mile round trip to view the car and knew I had to decide there and then as it would not hang about. Can't wait to finally get the car and start to enjoy her.
Hope you are successful in your search.

Did they offer to source another car for you Iain? I assume they left the car on the website to continue gaining interest.

Was just showing the wife the pics for this car, we should have gone for a look she says!!!! Pointed out it won't fit in the garage - At that price and spec - and I assume you got some off or a warranty it was never going to be around for long - I must have first put it on here about 3 weeks ago!!

If people want to sell, they have got to be prepared to be a little flexible with the price. Lots of 4.2's on Pistonheads and Auto trader since I've been looking over past 2 months that haven't changed prices! Cars depreciate so over the course of say 2 months, if it's not sold, its overpriced. Simple.

I knew they were telling porkies. Good man. Lovely car at a good price.

I guess you would not want them to tell someone else exactly what you paid if you had got it so surely it is easiest for them to give a vague answer that gives nothing away? That's the problem with used cars, they can sell whilst you are trying to negotiate a deal.

I was once on the phone to an Audi salesman talking about buying a used car but by the time I got my credit card out later in the call another salesman had sold it. You could always phone half a dozen vendors of 4.2s and offer them £4K off and see what happens.

Or the right buyer hasn't come along yet. There are so many variations on the spec available and if you have the exact spec that someone wants, they will pay maybe more than you would expect. You have to be patient selling any car over £30k in my opinion

Good luck with your search Iain and lots of good advise to be found, not just on this thread but elsewhere too.
You won't regret it and if you are able to stretch to a 4.7, you will be buying a fantastic car.
Keep us posted but drive a few and make your mind up as the engines and gear boxes are very different

Thanks a lot mate. I took out a 4.2 today with a full GTS body kit and custom exhaust. Looked gorgeous and so impressed with the drive, quality of interior etc. it just didn't sound like I expected and the 'sport' button didn't alter the exhaust note. The acceleration was too linear for me, and didn't pop /crackle on down shifts etc. As a lot of you have said - its a beautiful GT.

I am sold on the GT looks wise, and it fits my bill. I think I need one - but probably need to stretch to the 4.7. I will be using it as a daily. Probably regularise traffic, bot not high miles.

Do I go for the Auto or MC Shift. Is the MC shift SIGNFICANTLY more sporty in terms of drama/noise/acceleration or would the Auto be similar. Does the sport button change the exhaust note on both?

PS: was pleasantly surprised with the satnav / music...though I wasnt expecting much :)

Totally agree with this statement.
I have been looking for over 6 months, and several of the 4.2s have been on the whole time....only dropped by 500 pounds if at all. Crazy. They haven't worked out a car is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

Performance wise the figures on paper suggest that there is not a great deal between them all....top speed on the Auto and MC SHift is 183 and to 60 is 4.9 seconds for the 4.7 auto and 4.7 for the Auto shift. The 4.2 auto 0 to 60 is 5.2 seconds.
WOuld you find a big difference in acceleration between the 4.7 MC shift and the 4.7 auto........I would probably say not as we are talking 10th of seconds. What you will find is the difference in how it deliveries that speed etc.......The auto will feel more relaxed in the way it puts the power down I would imagine. As before drive both mate so you can see the difference.......

As far as noise a 4.2 with a Larini or Tubi will sound pretty good but expensive to add but a 4.7 has that noise you probably crave for already but will cost you 10k more to buy.....

Was hoping to pick my car up from Alexander's yesterday but they are waiting on a part. They have kindly offered to deliver the car to me mid week. Round trip of 300 miles. Saves me £50 in fuel driving up in another car with brother.
Hope its worth the wait. Really looking forward to seeing it again.
Shock of spending so much money has been replaced by excitement and anticipation of owning such an exotic vehicle!
