Hi guys. Thanks so much for the tips. I hadn't checked as yesterday there had been 60 views and only one reply from the reliable andy!
I appreciate you guys really know your stuff - so it means a lot to get your opinions.

Re: the one at alexanders - I Agree!I was negotiating on it - and some bugger offered the asking price with no mods and got it.
I just wanted black wheels and a full tank of petrol....

Disappointed - as I agree - it was good value compared to the overpriced 4.2's on Autotrader I think.

Apologies, I have read some posts and previous ones give a good insight into 4.2 vs 4.7. I really thought you would class the 4.7 as a sports car though :(

Re: gearbox, I would prefer the MC shift but I think for me - daily driver , wife and baby, and potential for traffic to and from work - would you agree the auto is the way to go? Excuse my ignorance, but it does have paddles doesnt it?

re: value, I am in negotiations for a Black on Black, 09, GTS, 33,000 miles. Auto. Well specced (skyhook etc), full service history, not sure re: clutch and brakes, no warranty as private sale (will need one methinks). Will get inspection prior for brakes and clutch (does auto have a clutch? ;/ - and can they tell brakes conditions from inspection?)
He is firm he won't take less than 40 k private sale. Seems rich and doesnt care about selling it!!

Felonious - Do you think I could get away with an MC shift gearbox as a daily driver and potential for traffic? Not huge commutes. Would prefer something more sporty and aggressive - do they sound much different?

Apologies for multiple posts - Alexanders sent me a video of the car. Looks fantastic....but I was disappointed by the exhaust note. I was expecting the GTS to sound much louder. Would an X pipe make a big difference? I am looking at -http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201512099341514?search-target=usedcars&postcode=sa34sw&sort=default&radius=1500&price-to=30000&quicksearch=true&onesearchad=used%2Cnearlynew%2Cnew&page=1&model=granturismo&make=maserati&logcode=p on thursday. But worried about mileage and would get inspection before purchase. But it has the look, extras I like. If inspection doesnt go well, I am going for a low mileage GTS.
RE: Custom sat nav unit - I had quotes from 5,000!!!!! down to 700. Wtf is going on with that....

I know Phil - thought the OP wanted a GT S, I will not even pretend to understand the GT range once it has a 4.7 engine in it.

Iain originally wanted a 4.2 GT but as we have been speaking for some time but I know Iain would like a 4.7 if one came along.

Iain, none of the GT's could be classed as a Sports car.....even the Stradale maybe isn't a true sports car...They are very big and do the GT bit better but each one has a different character and the 4.7 is closer to a sports car than a 4.2 because of the character of the car. But drive a few and see which you like. As before if I'm about and you want company to see one give me a shout.

All GT's would be good as a daily drive.....that's if you have the readies to fill it with fuel........The Auto would probably be better depending on the type of driving you do...IN town probably Auto...open road MC shift.............

The MC Shift clutch costs a fortune to replace.....depending on who you listen to £2500 to £4000 where as the Auto doesn't have that expense. You can get an MC Auto whihc is the auto to have I believe but you would need nearer 60k for one of those.

If you want that more involved feel then most will say go MC Shift......but both Auto and MC Shift have paddles so you can change yourself.

Valves open on the 4.7 at start up but then close quite quickly. On my auto they will not open even in sport and above 3000 revs if you are not moving. The MC might be the same - not sure - so a video of a stationary car will not sound as good as one moving.

Did this not come up before quite recently and you said auto with optional "sport pack" got around this or am I making this up in my head??? lol

The valves on the MCS open as soon as the sport button is pressed regardless of revs and motion

Isn't that the GT Sport, Phil? The facelift one with some kind of strangely named Auto Sport MC Software Box Type Thing.

No, The GTS with the "sports pack" has the exhaust valves that open all the time when in sports mode. So its sound is like the MC shift but without the Robotised Clutch.

Yes dave - I agree :( You snooze you lose as they say.
As someone else said on the forum....I used to be indecisive, but I am not so sure anymore...
Totally my fault.

You NEED to act quick on these cars, they are desirable and sell very well if priced right!

Does re the 3000 revs point but my car will not open the valves if you are in neutral or park and rev the engine beyond 3000 revs as you need to be in drive or sport first.
