Something more modern and slower or something of a classic look and faster?

It is tough and if i were in that position id consider many things between them but i do feel id be in a GS

Drive the best you can afford and like, but if one performs better for similar money to the one that does not, then you have a choice..!!

Of course, but if 'performance' was *only* about the numbers, we'd all be in something much faster.

I wonder how old these cars will need to be before people stop thinking of anything over 50k miles as "high mileage"? that car is over 7 years old so i think the mileage is fine, they're a GT built for doing mileage, they're not a delicate sports car. Mine is an 06 and has now done 63k miles

also wondered this, what is the average milage for these before they are classed as high mileage ? mines just over 8,000 per year which I think is good - but suspect its classed as high. think these are just getting run in at 50-60,000

It used to be 12k per a ear as average but that was 'normal' cars.......Its hard to say .... I would never put 60k as high miles but some do with this type of car.

Some will agree and some wont....

On supercars id say anything over 60k is high and on normal cars its 12k a year.....

These cars can take 100k and some but people dont buy as quick as reliability issues is still an issue with the media and italian cars

Not so much that Dem....but wear and tear parts very expensive....anything breaks for a run of mill car 3-400 for part....Maserati ....1500-2000 ( as in Robs air con unit)...have 2/3 run of mill items give up in 24 mths, its near the value of car to fix

I think it's a very British thing to place so much credance on mileage. Most other countries, especially those with kilometres as their standard unit of length, seem to look more at condition and history. For example, my sister today bought a 152,000km Volvo XC90 in Berlin., after talking to my bother-in-law, he was not at all put off by the mileage and thought it strange that I asked. Coincidentally, my XC90 just passed 100,000 miles and is totally fine. She's 11 years old and perfectly maintained and although it prompted a discussion with my wife about getting a younger one, I can't see an decent argument for doing that.

Previous to my GS, I took a gamble on a 90,000 mile c4s which I took to 105,000 without incident. Early 90s 911 964 are now commanding 20k even with 150k on the clock! For me, the real decision is whether you want a low mileage car to cherish as a Sunday driver or whether you just want a good, often substantially less expensive version to use and attain the same enjoyment from, if not more.

I've done the depreciation thing and I dread to think how much my motoring life has cost so far. Unless the money element becomes less significant for me, I think I'll stick to higher miles and keep the costs down.

To summarise, a 66k GS is not high and at 18k is a bargain to my mind. It may well be harder to move on but it should suffer low depreciation only and give many smiles per buck. Seriously, what else come close at the price?

Never worry about mileage especially if you know its been looked after my Range Rover hit 150,000 driving up to Manchester airport loaded up with all our gear. My 4200 is on 107,000 and still the best value for money super car I have had.

The secret is in the "Care & Attention" the car has had in it's lifetime..!! My XJR that I parted company with was terrific, did not cost me a great deal and had done 168K when I sold her on. As far as I know she is still going strong, but had the best of everything whilst I had her..!! I always like to treat my cars the same, if looked after they should give good service..!! High miles would not concern me much with a V8, just so long as this is reflected in the price you pay and the history is immaculate..!!
