It's nice but the obvious one again is the mileage.

It is cheap and the new clutch a real bonus.

Mileage a tad high for some buyers....but if supported by a thick wedge of invoices...then a decent car for the price, how doe it look, drive and pass an indie inspection is the proof of the pudding.......

...bollox, it's just about run in. With a decent service history including lots of oil changes it's likely to be ok. These things are nigh on bomb proof.

It's cheapish, but for the mileage and year, maybe not..?? Standard Headlamps and would have benefited from a good interior vacuum, has heated seats, but few pictures to wet the apetite..!!

How can you tell whether or not if has xenons? I don't think mine has, as you don't get the gas discharge flash, but not 100% sure.

Was just reading the earlier thread about LED replacement side light bulbs and thinking this might make up for lack of xenon headlights..

Its a GS under 20k....... Miles wouldn't bother me ....... Xenons wouldn't....... As long as an inspection came up clear, has good history and good condition why wouldn't you ........ When you see those GS's up for 33/34k for 20k on the clock and this one has another 35k on the clock is 35k miles really worth 17k in money..........

Its a 18k GS for christ sake.......and a 2006 car....

Just seen the vendor has dropped the price by £2k to £18,800, seriously cheap and appears to be a desperate seller.

£17,500 for that car is seriously cheap.

As you say Andy, that 35k mile car at Autoficina up at nearly twice the price with half the mileage really gives one something to think about.

Just proves what I was harping on about last month about dealers stagnating the market with unrealistic valuations.

All the over £30k GS's are still for sale months later, and the ones just under come to think about it.

If you want to actually sell a GS at the moment you have to price them early to mid £20's or the just don't sell.

Ok you could just say I am talking the market down as I am in the market for a GS but I am not. I have religiously observed every GS for sale on all the main websites in the last quarter of 2013 and this is my finding.

If you take the grey with tan car that a new forum member has just purchased it shows that even cheap GS are struggling to sell, and any with tech cloth even harder.

Simon your car does not have HID lights from the factory. The factory kit is not just bulbs but also the rest of the system to make it compliant with the EU laws. This includes beam self adjusting to prevent dazzling and washers to ensure the beam is not deflected by dirt/grime...hence why its a £700/1,000 option on most cars. Its one of the reasons I did not buy your car and finding it hard to get a 4200/GS as I need the HID lights.

You can retro fit the bulbs and ballast, but given Italian electrics, and the MOT issues I am not prepared to go that way.

Re this car, Its a London car close to my London res' given its location I suspect it has had a hard life on the clutch, and may have a few parking knocks/dings etc...if its still for sale after my holiday I may take a peek and report back.

The GranSports priced at over £30k appear optimistic but are mostly very low mileage, late cars. Assuming they're in a nice warm showroom and the dealer doesn't need to sell anytime soon, they will continue to sit until the buyer looking for that exact car turns up.
GranSports seem to be in short supply right now - Dicky Grace, ADG and Nuvola have 2 between them, neither especially desirable IMO due to colour schemes or year/mileage and both at the top end of prices. They will both sell, though, as the dealers are very well regarded and we've seen the prices they have achieved for other cars previously.
I think a lot of the current market pricing is influenced by GranTurismo prices. 4.2 autos are still £35k at best for 2007/8 cars - way more than a 4200 cost at 6-7 years old. Early GT-S cars are dropping a little to mid-high £40k, again a lot more than a GS cost at 6 years old. Whilst the GTS remains out of reach for many (IMO until they're sub-£40k) GranSports will continue to hold their value. I believe the best/most desirable/low mileage GSs will continue to attract a premium and may possibly rise slightly in value over the next couple of years as they become more scarce.

Spot on Mark....not a lot else you can add to that, GS's with low mileage will be the ones buyers with a good budget are prepared to stump up for

Can't agree. If a car doesn't sell within a reasonable time (of course what's reasonable is debatable), then it's not holding value, it's just overpriced. Same with houses.

What *I* think is happening is the dealers have paid too much are are hoping to recoup their losses. They aren't making money if they're not turning over stock.

I wonder how old these cars will need to be before people stop thinking of anything over 50k miles as "high mileage"? that car is over 7 years old so i think the mileage is fine, they're a GT built for doing mileage, they're not a delicate sports car. Mine is an 06 and has now done 63k miles, i suspect by the time i'm done with it it'll have over 100k an be worth about 50p whilst the few that are left with under 50k will be worth £20k+ i guess only the buyer can decide on if the price premium is worth it

personally i bought the car to drive, that obviously means putting miles on it and lowering it's value, but that's fine as when i paid for the car i wrote off that money in the same way you do when buying a TV, it's resale value is of little concern to me, i'm not wealthy but i also don't want the worry of future values impacting on my enjoyment of the car

If that car is straight i think it's a bargain, i can't see a GS of any mileage being worth less than 10k, surely one must break for over £5k?

Perhaps they are anticipating a hoped for increase in marque interest. Who knows what will happen to second hand prices when more people want to get into one of the most charismatic marques on the road.
