Given 4 models share basically the same part it seems strange that Maserati have not given everyone the same golden advice they have given 32 owners.......all either very amateurish or suspect.

Guys I think the problem will happen on the modern models especially with the UK climate.
Been working today on a 2014 QP GTS and thought i would have a good look at the suspension on a car that has only done 7,000 kilometeres.
The steel bushes have already started rushing as they are untreated and just pressed into the alloy arms.IMAG0398.jpgIMAG0399.jpg

Bear in mind this is a car supplied new here in Auckland New Zealand.
With salt on the roads and winter weather I think these will end up like whats happened to the 3200/4200 cars.
Just my thoughts,
Phil.

Ok so I can accept this is a robot welded joint but what the **** kind of joint is that supposed to be? Where is the strength in that, the plate is welded to the body further down and this infill is supposed to brace it but effectively cuts through the plate in the process!

Suspect joint.jpg

Agree with the worrying state of that given no rock salt involved Phil...

Hi Phil
Are you referring to the QP V or QP VI? Does anyone have any thoughts on the QV5 bushes? I seem to remember when I was doing the "due diligence" prior to steaming in with a blindfold and crossed fingers, that QPV suspension was delicate as well

I had a letter right about time it was in for MOT.
It needed a new o/s/f wishbone anyway, as the ball joint had play in it, apparently, so I had it replaced with a used one from a Californian 4200.
No cracks were evident in the US arm, however the bushes are still in my old arm, so I can't tell. It looks fine externally.
It has to be said that the ball joint in my arm seems fine, with it off the car, so maybe there was play with weight on it...

So, I have a spare wishbone if anyone needs one to investigate this issue further or use one for prototyping anything.

Now that's just shoddy engineering and bean counting...
Those Will corrode faster that the 3200/4200 we have now

My friend has a 993 Porsche and where he has it serviced use a Tectly ML wax spray for corrosion protection of suspenion components and the underside. It a light wax which lasts around 2 years, I am going to use it on my wishbones and subframes as a precaution. I think Bill Hamber also do a similar product "UC Clear Film" both are available from opie oils.

i haven't received a letter either. But i recall in one of the 198 pages that a GS owner had received one? Gone only to those who filled out the online form maybe?

I wouldn't have thought that would be the agreed action "Inform the people that have submitted a form that there is a potential issue"
Which brings me onto another thing.
How will Maserati know where we all live, as a Government agency I am not sure they can furnish Maserati with our details (Data protection and all that)
No doubt Drew will be along to tell me if I think my data is protected I am a fool.:ohh:
Just thought I would ask?
