I think this is the end of my emails with the DVSA.. as far as they're concerned it's case closed..

Mr Christy

Thank you for your email as attached and I note your comments.

The investigations have determined the cause and the manufacturer has complied with legislation advising vehicle keepers of this and potential outcomes. The file has been submitted for closure and DVSA will not be pursuing further action from the manufacturer on this occasion.

In conclusion I would refer to my previous comments and do not believe there is anything I can add. Should you require further information on assessing components you should contact the manufacturer direct.

Regards

John

I know some of you but maybe not all of you that have experienced this issue have filled in the appropriate form, but if not please click on the link and take a couple of minutes to do so,the more we submit the better.

At this stage, it won't really make a blind bit of difference, unless 1000 people suddenly submit forms. A few more earlier on would have helped, but now? DVSA and Maserati have closed the book, and will only revisit it with a massive change in reported failures. Even a fatality caused by a broken wishbone will be overlooked, as the wishbone could have broken in the impact of the crash, no?

We're p!ssing in the wind now with the DVSA and Maserati, neither of them care.

Best we can do is work hard behind the scenes and get our own proper solution in place and show them how it should be done.

To be honest I believe Maserati want the roads ridden of anything pre-Granturismo and therefore anything they can do to get out of keeping our cars on the road the better for them.

So if we manage to get something better together that ensures our cars stay on the road AND ensures the money doesn't go in Maserati's coffers it's probably going to hack them right off... revenge..dishes..

We are where we are, but this beggars belief. Just the other side of its centenary, one of the finest motoring heritages possible, some of the finest motor cars ever made, some of the worlds most famous drivers behind the wheels of their iconic cars, a wish to grow their sales going forward and this is how they choose to handle this issue.

For very little cost this could have been handled so differently.

Everything seems to be handled by bean counters. They fail to see how heritage, and the enthusiast can have a positive effect as it is not quantifiable.

This result is what most of us expected, it is up to us now to move this on, spread the word worldwide as to what is available outside Maserati, who are pretty useless..!! Then we can gradually spread the word through the press, including motoring press, advising the world that the cars are great but Maserati as a manufacturer are hopeless and could not care less about owners. We could also advise that most Maserati dealers, not all, are practising Maserati bad conduct and should be treated with extreme caution for sales and service of Maserati cars..!!

This may be too late but I’ve got a copy of the 3200gt service manual( Manuale di officina) the 200 page dealer service manual. No reference to suspension levers or components in any service schedule. Not at PDI, the free (only in Italy) 1500KM service or 10,000km services up to 100,000 KM. The only suspension related items are wheel alignment front and back, front and rear hub bearings, electronic suspension control if fitted and a road test . If this is any use I will copy it for you. Good call - especially any owners of newer cars.
Claims this only relates to aged 3200GT models is tarnishing the otherwise unblemished repution of the twin-turbo terror.

I wonder what a lawyer would make of that? I would also love to hear Maserati try to explain why the routine servicing element for this issue has been omitted from their official dealer servicing publication!

No me neither (in NI), but did pass MOT on Monday and asked guy to check really carefully. He didn't seem aware of the issue.
