If they don't then Maserati will fall behind....and that will have an effect on sales......They should have that technology already as the MC Shift is already old fashion compared to the rest......Can not see why Ferrari would stand in the way of that now......

Maserati fell behind long ago in the technology stakes, the CC box must be 12 years old now? Not sure it affects sales though - most Maserati buyers from what I have experienced don't seem to know an awful lot from a technical perspective about what they have purchased!

It's more about the badge and the styling than the performance. Otherwise we would all be in GT-R's. :)

Agree with Pat, Maserati have not been up there with technology for years.....they were the first to do many things, LED lights on 3200 for one and in the last 10 years they have not pioneered anything.....Good looks, great engines, thats whats selling for them

ep sort og agree Pat...Although I know someone who wanted a GT because of its looks..Never thought of a Maserati before and thats what the new range has been doing pulling people into the marque who may have not thought of a MAserati before....He drove it and after the paddle shifts he had beeen used to though the CC box was terrible, slow, jerky and outdated.....He ended up spedning his money on a Jaguar XKR S......Suppose it all depends what you are used to.

He was right which is why the current range is CC or auto. People on here are mainly converts but there are lots out there who were put off Maserati by CC. As the auto GranTurismos come down in price I hope many of them revisit the brand.

Agree BB........There is a reason most of the press said the Auto was the better box and suited the nature of the GT.....

It's all personal and down to taste but for me the auto, whilst excellent and refined, wasn't different enough from my old XFR. The MC has a hooligan element to it which I love, but I'd not want to drive it in town every day. It's a car for open roads.

I understand that just a shame they made the GranTurismo too big and heavy to fulfill that role. I guess that's why the new one will be smaller as there is a limit to what you can do with a 5 series sized car that weighs 1800-2000 kg.

I love my car but its a 650i competitor and not an M3/M4.

Exactly, BB. Same view from here. It's surprisingly agile but it ain't no Porsche! It's plenty good enough for what I need and it can hustle along well enough in real-life use. It has absolutely earned its name and ity does it with more style, panache, charisma and joy than any other car I can think of. In fact, I cannot think of any car I would want to replace it with.

I actually agree with both points of view. Whatever 4.7 version you have,I can't help thinking it needs over 500 bhp to truly be the whole package. Not that you'd use that very often, but maybe because of what I've been used to,I tend to feel just a tad short changed when pressing on.

Yes the GranTurismo is now off the pace power to weight wise. The new V8 in the QP is ok though just shows that engine and gearbox wise the GranTurismo is now a granddad.

I have had three Masers because the kids fit in the back. Once they are off the domestic payroll I would be tempted by something smaller and lighter.

Bob, they stopped making the Reliant Robin sometime ago I'm afraid...

Adam, I would have the MC Shift..No question...But I do understand why people buy the auto...

They turned it round and called it a Morgan.

Haha! I love that three-wheeler. Not sure I'd fancy driving one, mind you.

It's the moderate hooliganism of the thing that I love, Andy. It has a hint of the gentleman thug about it. The car and the MC box are terrific fun and perfectly easy to live with, for me anyway. It's only really a bit rubbish in traffic, but driving in town's boring anyway. Apparently it has an auto mode.

Back to the Stradale......I have a rather lovely hard back brochure for the new Stradale plus I have a brochure for the first Stradale......Now maybe its because the new car is in grey in the brochure but even with all those bonnet vents it just doesn't feel as special as the first one......Tring to think why and I think part of it is that they have taken those lovely sports seats oput and replaced with what looks like the standard GT S seat.........Maybe due to rear access but to me they really gave the car its own look....The new cars interior...lovely though it is just not removed enough from the standard car......

I wasn't aware the new one doesn't have different seats. The carbon backing on the original ones was beautiful.
