Morning,

Looks a lovely day up here today. Same as most of yesterday actually, though if you were watching the BBC you'd have thought the entire country was under a deluge. No, we had that on Tuesday when it was dry in the south east.

Last day of the working week for me. Car cleaning time when I get home ready for the weekend.

Have a great day everyone

Morning all, we did the canyon flight out of Boulder City, so hoover dam, West rim with a picnic at the bottom - best part flying deep in the canyon with it towering above you on both sides. GC Train scheduled for later today which takes us to the South rim & sky bridge.

Morning.

Finally fixed my scissor lift yesterday. It ended up being really simple. Pressure releif and flow throttle valve needed nipping up. Now lifts the Strad and floats back down like a 1980's Awia tape deck soft eject :)

Thanks to Trev Latter for holding my hand through the process and pointing me in the right direction. At least the whole process means I now have a very good working knowledge of hydraulics even if it did take a year to finally sort out.

This meant I could get on with the fitting of my flip up remote control front number plate.

It all went rather well. The unit is fitted to the underside of the Strad, US plate frame has been cut down to fit UK plates, I just have to fit the wiring on Saturday which is relatively simple. I've taken all the pics to do a full pictorial how to for anyone else who wants to fit one.

Afternoon all, my work here is done and I'm back at Astana airport. They have built and opened a new terminal since I was here in April so it is not the smallest international airport any more.

Good work, Newton!
Mmmm, Devon does look lovely there too.

Morning! I got quite warm on my ride to work. I thought I was being pretty slow and tired and then found out I recorded a new top speed on my commuter bike. 38.9mph apparently.

HapPea Thursday!

Morning all. Up early this morning to drop Alex's ML to Mercedes to do the rear spring and brake pads all round. Nice expensive way to start the day.
Office bound until lunch when I have to pick Alex up from work, and at some point I need to wash the Maser before Sunday as I'm in Wales tomorrow and up in Essex on Saturday.

S'pose I could just leave it outside and let the rain do it's job!

Awia AD6350 - First bit of HiFi I ever bought - 1980! Used to press that eject and watch the the soft opening in awe after the hard clattery ejects of the past. This was the future! Then came the auto reverse gizmos - first the one that spun the tape and then the actual head itself. Chrome TDK tapes for the best quality recordings and watching the VU like a hawk to make sure it didn't stay too much in the red. Happy days!

Yep, a massive fan of Awia back in the day, mainly their walkmans, they were epic, let me see if I can find pics of the ones I had...

and this was the first one I had, a bit older, a bit bigger but brilliant sound to listen to my Sunday top 40 mix tape on the bus too...

Bought it from Dixons, remember them?

I had the Sony Walkman R707 which at the time completely revolutionised the Walkman as it was so small and compact compared to the brick's of the time

Sound quality was decent too. And then I went onto the Mini disc in the form of a MZR-50, what a step up and the fact it had a line in to record all my mixtapes too :D

I had an MZR-50 as well. Never quite understood why the mini-disc didn't catch on as a data format, but what the hey :)

Think I still have this in a drawer somwhere!

Then went on to Sony Discman and the an iAudio player with a hard disc 'cos it could play ogg which allegidly was better than mp3. Got both of these in the same drawers well!
