Morning all, heating still off!

A nifty trick a mate taught me is to remove the thermostat dial, dremell out the boss and glue it back on 10 degrees out, it's been fooling his missus for years and she's still none the wiser!

Morning all, cold outside instructed wife and children to wear jumpers - heating still off

iPhone 6 restore from backup complete, can spend the day poking it to see what it can do (more of the same I expect)

6 or 6 plus?

Why the restore, failed 8.0.1 upgrade?

Must admit I am considering changing my order to the 6, not 6 plus?

Is yours bent yet?

Have to say, I'm impressed at the stiff upper lip attitude to being thrifty and uncomfortable at home ;)

Here's value for money - I'm on the EastCoast train to London, and there's just me in this entire carriage. It won't stop anywhere else before it reaches Kings Cross, so that's the end-game. It's an astonishing measure of just how many people now WFH on Fridays; every other day the train has been fairly close to full.

I went for the 6 it is plenty big enough for me. Backed up my 5 to the iCloud and then restored it on to the 6, still sticking with iOS 8.0 don't trust the other versions yet.

Not sure what people do to bend them as it feels quite solid to me.

Today I will be mostly playing.

First I need to move this, might as well give it a run whilst its out

Which will give me access to get this out and take it over to Aylesbury

Which will give me space to release this from it's garage, as before might as well go for a run to check all is good

and as it looks sunny might go for lunch in this

some days life can be tough

Tough job Andy!

Not going to be back in time tonight to collect the black Spyder from Shiltech, so that's a task for tomorrow.

Zag that's just showing off mate :)

Drew, very odd, isn't it. Apparently you won't feel cold no matter the temperature, if it's not some point in the diurnal cycle. It's something I've observed for years when the shorts come out in April, no matter what the weather does!

Morning all.

Working from home today, thank fvck. I love London but I've seen enough of it this week and I'll see more of it next.

Not tempted by the iPhone 6. 6+ too big, so even less tempted by that. I refuse to shell out £600 for a phone which in any way that matters is the same as the phone I shelled out, er, £600 for a few months ago. Only my one is less bendy, apparently.

But I do need a new watch. The windy thing fell off the last one and it'd be nice to know what the time is without having to forage in my pocket for my non-bendy small-screened iPhone every time. So today I will mostly be working my **** off and trying not to look at watches on the Internet.

Have a good day, everyone. Chris, let the cat deputise for you today.

I can top than one.... About 5 years ago I fitted TRV4s (rad stats) to all the radiators in the house and fitted a self regulating bypass in the system. At the same time I disconnected the main thermostat. It didn't occur to me to tell anyone I had done that :thumb1: I came in earlier this summer to find Jeanette hollering at the kids because someone had turned the stat up!!! I didn't let on though :D ignorance is bliss...

Ms. CB is from the hinterlands of northern China, and has a very defined sense of seasons. Twice every year it's swap the wardrobes time, bring out the winter clothes, put away the summer clothes and vice versa. First few times I just looked on in wonder at this monumental waste of time, but she explained the seasons she's used to and I get it now...but still think it's pretty pointless in London. I wear a shirt and suit in summer; a shirt, suit and coat in winter...if it's really cold. Casual is jeans and shirt in summer; jeans, shirt and jumper in winter, if it's really cold. Coat if it's cold and windy.

I don't understand all this dialogue. It's not cold yet. All of you delicate flowers who need the heating on should man up a bit!

Maybe, but unlike you we are not cold blooded, so we need a bit of heat when it gets cold.

Agree totally. Hats and scarves as appropriate.
