Don't any of you have thermostats in the house? What's this crude 'heating is on or off' deal?

Heating switched off is a statement - it's off until it needs to be switched on again. A thermostat set to low can be easily (and sneakily) turned up. I don't really feel the cold, Mrs MAF would want a jumper on in the Sahara! If anyone in my family wants to burn fuel unnecessarily it should be 98 RON and in the tank of a yellow GS!

The last time I visited Burghley it was well drafty inside so no wonder you have your heating switched on - you need to get some silicone around your mullions!

Totally not with the concept either, mate. Boiler make heat when thermostat says cold. Simples

Hello everyone. Bloody workload.

Same heating story here. Mrs. N's a reptile but even she's not tried to turn the heating on yet. Well, not while I've been around. Long may it stay that way.

I am the original reptile, but our heating has been coming on (note the tense there) at night when the temperature drops. The windows still open in the bedroom though.

Nope. Something of a solution looking for a problem, I feel. We go in and out so regularly that I just do not see the point. I do have Z-wave though. Not for the boiler, *yet*.
