milano 2010 018.jpg..I don't take any chances on full death runs..an espresso at the service stop, check the car over two or three times..then just go for it

This old pic explains the whole thing,we were doing over 120 in 1970's cars in tunnels!

It was mostly a bottle of wine or two in the old days, but hey, things slow down a little in your late 60's..

I did a lot of 1/4 miling before road racing and after a couple of pints in the nearby pub at lunchtime we always felt faster, wheelies were higher and the black lines we're longer, unfortunately the timing lights disagreed with our perception of speed ;)

I did glance down and see 188 on my R1 and still going strong, a HUD would have been useful !

That reminds me of a time before speed cameras I found myself coming home through the Dartford tunnel in the wee small hours in a porker C4 and wound it up to 150... Couldn't and wouldn't do that now though!!!

I currently need to find out why I have a slight vibration comes on over 140, all weights are in place on wheels, but wear could cause a slight inbalance I suppose and I need to have drive elements checked just in case. It's a puzzle that I need to solve..!!

When I drove for GMP and later Kent constabularies I was alwas a little surprised at how fast some drivers thought they were going and that their cars were safe...but for total butt clenching fear try doing a Exceptional High Risk Prisoner movement with a fleet of traffic cars, out riders helicopter and a 20 tone ballistic protection truck less than two feet behind you...and then some tosser with his stereo on loud pulls oit in front of the whole caboodle.

Late for an airport trip once and HAD to do 175MPH(Audi RS6) to get there, we did I will add but I'm not mentioning which country I was in at the time.
Also over 80MPH(off the clock)(legally) in an 18 ton Scania when some numpty pulls out in front of you, now that's frightening

A friend of mine is a traffic cop and was recently involved in a chase along the M62, four traffic cars chasing this stolen car that was ramming everything annd at speeds over a 100 in traffic..!! I saw a video of it and at one point my mate got rammed and spun on the motorway, he finally caught the sod though and pushed him in to the rear of a trailer truck at over 90, the truck seemed not to notice and drove on, the target car was a mess and the 2 occupants arrested..!!

I remember watching police camera action years ago and one of the kids said to me, dad, why don't they have guided missiles on the helicopter or big bull bars and guns on the front of the police cars? It would stop the chase quicker
