Here's a flyby of my car on the track.

exhaust is decated, H-pipe and has QTP bypass valves and obviously this is with the valves open.

Gotta love the no muffler sound.

That's the sound I like, the 3.2 sounds much deeper than the 4200's metallic kazoo sound. Sort of more like a Mustang

I have to be honest Phil, while this maybe an improvement on factory, it can't hold a candle to how the 4200 sounds.

Each to their own, Simon yours sounds EPIC but alot of the over modded ones on here don't do anything for me. SOund like a screamer and also too much machine gun rattle.

Dead right Phil, each to their own. Btw, the 4200s are screamers by design, mine spins to 8-8.5k rpm and the 'machine gun rattle' is what V8s sound like. The more bits we take off, the nearer we get to the natural sound of the engine. I'm sorry you don't like it, but lots of us do. Each to their own.

I'm used to the RS4 V8 with Milltek which just sounds awesome, much deeper bassier sound. As you say each to their own, if we all like the same thing the world would be a very dull place.

I recently drove the new RS6 and whilst it is a fantastic car and a nice place to be, it wasn't for me. It red lines at 6.5k and it was like driving a big diesel; tons of low down grunt but just when you wanted things to start happening, it hit the limiter. I felt like I was always having to short shift to get it moving. Bloody quick though, but not the power delivery I really want in a 'toy'. Strangely, I drove a new RS4 immediately before the RS6 and I can't for the life of me remember anything about what it was like to drive. A very quick car by all accounts but, to me and I don't know why, eminently forgettable.

Interesting day. I met Tinman today when he came over to have his 4200 exhaust modified. We changed the standard centre box with an SM X-pipe and replaced his standard rear boxes with my old 'Autoshield' rear straight throughs. A real struggle but in the end, we got it done. I drove with him along the M6, waved him past and WOW, what a fantastic sound. It's what every 4200 should sound like from the factory. I am sure he will along at some point to post his first impressions but I am impressed. Awesome! Thanks to John at GT cars for the use of his ramp and precision adjustment tools.

Firstly let me start by saying a massive thank you to BennyD and John & the guys at GT cars as my car now sounds as good she looks. I was grinning like a kid all the way from Warrington back to Burton. The difference having the car making the right noise is incredible. Loud enough to be heard in the cabin with just the right amount of pops and bangs. There's very little of the drone that I have heard others talk about. Even my wife was impressed by the noise and said she heard me coming before I arrived (there's probably a joke somewhere in that last line).

Due to some technology failure on my part I only have a very short video at idle but you here the way she now burbles. I'll post it up as soon as I figure out how.

So far, 4 X-pipes, 3 sets of modified GS boxes with 1 X-pipe and 1 set of GS boxes on order. The list of converts is growing and every one is, so far, delighted. Fancy joing the dark side as well Simon?

I've got straight throughs on the back but would be interested in the sound with an X Pipe as well.

You would be more interested if you heard one with it already done! Pm me if you want to journey to the dark side.
