Gutted and just shows the importance of taking out the breakdown as Peter says himself. I did Le Mans without any cover and will make sure for next year I have full relay cover.

Peter's problem is not related to complexity.
Bearings can and will seize in time in any car.
I had the same problem happening on a VW and a very reliable Volvo!
That's why tow truck companies are in business

Never done European cover until I took the Spyder to Le Mans and given the issues would never not go without it again.

Right or wrong, in the circumstances I wouldn't give two hoots to the legality of releasing the a/c gas. Anyway it's not the old r22 refrigerant that was ozone unfriendly.
It's circumstances like these why I sorted a space saver wheel.

That should go on the alternate parts list: A/C Compressor can be replaced with space saver spare

Car recovered to a garage near Colmar. AC unit locked solid! Belt cut to move it onto a low loader. They will try and source a new pump on Monday. Stuck at Airport Hotel in Basil now. C on first flight to Gatwick tomorrow.

Im here hoping they sort it on Monday...live in hope.

LLoyds bank covers UK only unless you tell them in Advance.

Will keep you up to date with car and C.

Ok well some resolve. If you can get that pump from Torino tomorrow, its a simple job, you will be on the road by lunchtime. The Ebay link i sent you is the same guy so waz him off an email and see if you can meet up. You will get charged double by the dealer and its not like you have much else to do tomorrow.

Up date - Spoken to garage who recovered the car. They are busy all week and will not be able to start any work until next week. So I will be flying back to England today and hopefully back to France later in Oct to collect the car... Bummer.

Still waiting for a price from them, but have supplied the details of the Italian Co. Matt kindly supplied...

Any one off to France in Oct? ;o)

You are most likely right...
Did you try getting quotes on having the car transported from France to your place in the UK ?
