Have you tried something like www.shiply.co.uk? You can take bids from different transport companies for moving your car.

As an aside, I spoke to the contact I have in the trade about the Delphi compressors. He tells me they have had customers who have had difficulties with compressors they bought in Europe - they list them as the right part number but send an alternative that doesn't quite fit - of course he might be saying this because of the next bit - they have a supply (50) of the OEM part direct from Delphi for £525 + VAT - they offered to fit including gassing for just over £100. Based in Warwick.

Peter, just sent you the pics of the one I have in the office, it spins fine but Marios said it was internally seized, but disengaged its fine, no sound from the bearing at all:

Hi Peter, sorry to read you had your compressor seize whilst away. Mine did that at work.
Points I discovered in getting mine fixed -
1 - there are 2 brands used by Maserati. I don't know if they are interchangeable. I used compressor express out of Hungary who insisted I check the brand. There was. 50 euro price variance and of course mine was the more expensive.
2 - what exhaust headers do you have? My non cat 4 bolt ones wrap under the compressor so there is heat shield totally obscuring the compressor from underneath view. I had to borrow a camera scope to read the brand. Some people remove this shield apparently.
3. With this type of exhaust, the Maserati service instructions say to remove the left header, by raising the engine a couple inches, so not really a quick roadside fix.
4. Given the fun accessing this area it was suggested we look at the starter motor, which made sense.
5. Also good chance to assess state of belt tensioner and pulley. Mine were rattly.

Hi Bruce.
Thanks for the pointer. Sadly I'm just about to fly back to the UK and unable to check the items.

Well at last I have a response from the garage assuring me the car is safe. They are trying to source the parts in France (so there is some assurance they will fit) if unable they have asked me to source...well at least its some progress.

To be fair most Garages like to supply and fit as that way they can guarantee both parts and labour.

Not yet Matt, but when the recovery guy cut the belt he could not turn the compressor by hand. The car also started correctly with no screaming.
