Hes broken down nr Colmar, we think his ac pump bearing has colappsed so the aux belt is dragging and will snap.

He thought he had recovery but an oversite means the car is stranded and he will have to come home without it. I am hoping one of our French members can help him out, maybe store the car for him?

The other way is to see if you can fit a smaller aux belt missing the compressor out so that you can run the other components as a temp fix to get home.

What a sod :(

Sadly I'm fully booked, and probably couldn't help getting the car back anyway :(

Done it on other cars Matt but obviously this would need thinking about.
Only need it to do power steering and Alternator as coolant done from oil pump.
I would go with Marios on it though for sure as still a major road trip to do.
Peter my friend you need to use her more and not park her up for so long.
Best of luck getting sorted.

Dear all... any help appreciated. I'm outside of Colmar and will need to stay here until I can recover the car to UK... cheep F1 hotel will be used.

The car is at the posh hotel stop over and is OK there for a few days, if anyone has access to a mechanic and a pump that free wheels that would get me home.

Thanks for looking.

Peter

Ill check out my pump tomorrow, its at the office but Marios said it was internally seized but if the disengaged clutch still free wheels then it might get you home. Getting it to you on the other hand is not easy.

Don't forget the ac gas is dangerous and it's illegal to open the circuit to the atmosphere.

You will need help from a local mechanic shop to hook the system to an ac gas recovery system.

Any mechanic shop should have one of these but they all close on Sunday

Also, if it's the ac that is dragging and that happens even with the ac off and clutch disengaged then it's most likely a problem on the pulley/clutch assembly.

I wonder if there is enough room around the engine to just replace that without removing the pump

Morning all.

Wish it was a simple as joining and waiting but they would want proof of departure etc...small print.

Not a good night had here...need to get Charlotte home for her job before Sunday so need to get her to an airport. As one would expect she is not happy and has insisted the car is sold.

Need to get it looked at before I buy wrong parts...please all ensure you have full cover on your trips.

How about your bank account/credit card - I have full breakdown with my current account and they cover Europe - worth checking both yours and wife's?

Right or wrong, in the circumstances I wouldn't give two hoots to the legality of releasing the a/c gas. Anyway it's not the old r22 refrigerant that was ozone unfriendly.
It's circumstances like these why I sorted a space saver wheel.
Hope you get sorted Peter.
