I had no idea on the plaque question other than the Sherlock Holmes one.
Looks like there may be two blue plaques for Sherlock. The second being an address where the character retired. The Ziggy and Paddington plaques as already mentioned and then this one for Lara Croft.

Oddly enough. No it wasnt.

The letters stand for something and the numbers do as well.

Letters are straight forward. The number is the more interesting reason.

No. Although I like that suggestion more than the real answer.

Big clue the letters are what the product does as its primary function when created in the 50s.
