I think Tag is the one of the very few watch makers i really lilke, Brietling make some nice ones but they also make some real horrid blingy ones as well.

From what I've read on the web Tag don't make watches, they buy mechanisms from ETA for very little money in some cases modify them and put it in a case of their own design, quite a lot of the better replicas use the exact same movement as they cost very little from ETA in bulk

Companies like Patek Phillipe and Panerai make their own movements, anyone with a modern Omega Seamaster has an embellished ETA movement which is one reason why I wouldn't have one, I'm not saying it's a bad movement its just seems to me that a watch company who can't be arsed to make their own movement isn't really a watch company in my eyes.

I did do a bit of research as I think the Favre-Leuba watches aren't generally available but the lowest spec in stainless steel is about £7,500 rising to about £25,000 for the better ones in solid gold... so I'll just have t cope with my vintage one and pictures on the internet

Thats why I said check ebay in my earlier post, you can get something pretty unique, classy and excellent quality for not a lot of outlay. I've dealt with this dealer in thailand as has a friend of mine and both been very happy.

Yes, it is a very plain dress watch, simple white face, in stainless steel & gold including the strap...
did not get a chance to take a pic though.

Often the nicest watches are the simplest in design, not a fan of busy faces myself

they do another Gulf one, it has a black face with the orange in sky blue stripes, personally i prefer the white one with the red and blue stripes.
