New Kevlar Clutch

I've also thrown another spanner in the works this morning as my mapping friend is trying to obtain the GS engine and gearbox map for me to put in - this will alter things and Aldous said I'd need to do that first as he'd need to reset/tweek things again after so its pointless doing it first.

If anyone has the stock GS bin files (maps) for the gearbox and the ecu please pm me as it would be a great help

Hoping to achieve 435+bhp with the gran sport gearbox map and the Kevlar clutch it will be a fab car

Why do you think you'll get that horsepower? I wasn't aware there was any (substantial) difference in the ECU maps for the GS.

The GS has a better base map plus its 400bhp standard with less restrictors holding the power back.

I believe that these 10hp more plus the "better than standard 4200 suspension" is like Beatles' fifth member... nobody has seen it.

As for the ecu upgrade, Mark and Robert have their GSs tuned for 440 hp. So i believe this is achievable. But you will need free flow exhaust.

I had my 02 on a rolling road a couple of years ago and it put out 389, with just the larini rear boxes. So not far behind the factory GS. I think the difference between factory engine maps are miniscule, nothing to worry about. You would be better having a custom tuners re-map, and even again it is doubtful if you would notice the difference, more placebo.

They can be tuned - both mine and BJL's QPs put out 443 bhp. No placebo either - my QP outpaces Miles' 4.7 GT, which annoyed him a tad :)

Wasn't there a face off between a couple of cars and there was no difference?

Yes, but you know I measured mine on a straight road, before and after. Simple hard numbers. There's a small amount to be had, less than 10% at most.

Well 10% is still 38 so not *far* off I guess

But you didn't just have a GS map did you?

One thing I know is viewing maps and the 100+ cars Ive personally had mapped I know there are hidden restrictors all over them. So we always go for the cleanest base map (ie the GS map) and start from there. If you had enough time I'm sure u could put the CC Map to the same power - just giving myself a head start

Interesting, what makes u think the GS is the cleanest?

Perhaps try and get the MCV map - the serial number is the same as for the GS but not sure if the setup is identical

We have verified the first part but not the second as yet

Hi Adam, well I base it purely on the bhp figures as coming from the Audi world most engines are setup the same but maps separate the models power..... For example Audi place restrictors on theirs to cap the power. The Victory is also 400ps as far as I'm aware but they are so rare that I thought finding a map would be easier this way. I'd love the Trofeo map which is 420ps but I doubt that'll ever be available

The trofeo has different intake, which means, different air incoming.
If i were you i would stop with all mods and simply drive and have fun with my very charmy car. It's good to experiment though, but sometimes you lose the feeling of owning a supercar. You are unique because you have a Maserati, it's not necessary to be the fastest.

Agreed, I'm only doing it as my mates happy to do it for me - speed isn't the appeal for me but the next owner might want it so Its a selling point.

You really can't compare the *** group with the Maserati. *** engines, as are BMW, have same capacities and a spread of different engine power outputs.
Between the 4200 and GS there is only 15bhp difference on factory figures and this can be down to the different exhaust.
Regarding factory engine maps, never heard anyone change there's for a different factory map, probably because there is no benefit.
